Mainly, it was an attempt to hurt Inuyasha through his emotions by cursing and hurting the woman he loved. By making her barren, it was like a stab to the heart. Also, as you mentioned, he could go and have a baby with some other woman - which would also hurt Sango, thereby hurting Inuyasha yet again. Basically, by cursing Sango, she caused both of them anguish that would have been blunted if she had just cursed Inuyasha. Amber
