And Kagome's fight against the 'Sho' leader....Well, although Kagome is powerful...she would be fighting by herself in close to close combat. Sesshomaru probably knows Kagome's powers...but still doesn't think she could win.
Your point on Inuyasha! I guess he is being a bit hypocritical...but then again he is just being worried for Kagome because she might get hurt. I mean, if your friend is placing herself in danger...you can't just remain calm and let her without a fight.
And I love how you commented Sesshomaru and Kagome's growing relationship as 'slipping past his defenses'. Ah~ what will happen next? Thanks for your awesome review!

I see that you've noticed something while reading the chapter twice. I love how you pointed out that the maids reaction shows that Sesshomaru hardly allows "guests" into his study...makes you wonder what Kagome is to him.
For the question of patrol... Sesshomaru never needed to 'host' anything while Inuyasha was gone for the 200 years to search for his power. Sesshomaru is only the 'host' for the Hime tradition this time after 10 centuries. And you have to think that Inu no Tashio died really early considering demon age. So the duty to patrol was supposed to be Sesshomarus, but due to his father's early death he had to take on the position of Lord.
And ohh~ boy...Kagome will definitely be making enemies along the way.

That was EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! I mean, there was no love...but only through humans did demons realize what LOVE is. Muhahaha I am so glad and excited that you caught on to this! I like your notice of Kagome's character. I personally plan to make her much more mature. I mean...a few years has passed since the "yelling" Kagome. She is still fiery as we all know her to be, but she knows how to hold her tongue. Of course when she is with her friends, she can sometimes let that slip by ^_^. I view Kagome as much more posed and graceful. As for Kagome being emotional about Inuyasha, how could she not? He is being hated...and I'd try to sympathize for him as much as possible.
For your question about Sesshomaru allowing Inuyasha to patrol the Land...I didn't quite understand (sorry)...but basically...it's as written...Sesshomaru can't leave the Castle since he is hosting the Hime Tradition ceremonies...so as Prince...Inuyasha is next in charge of patroling the Land. I hope this answers your questions?

Even high ranking demoness would not wish to rely on other demons for information, knowledge, or power because that would make them appear 'weak'. Yes, they should be desperate and do anything to gain the title of 'Hime'...but again...they would cheat their way to gain the title on their ownnn (beauty). A demon society that honor's individuality on everything...that's how I view things. And there are no rules to obtaining the title of 'Hime'...but I'm pretty sure the demoness have honor as to NOT kill one another...they are still of high class and not barbarian lower class demons. I think I will end here... don't wish to give too much away. But I hope it clears up some of our questions? Thanks again for reading and reviewing "The Hime Tradition"!

As always, your reviews bring up brilliant questions. I guess I will have to explain that in the later chapters...but I believe that if Kagome mates Inuyasha, her life span would expand. Also, the Hime doesn't need to live till the next Hime is chosen. Kagome isss the first 'human' to every compete in the "Hime Tradition"...so I wouldn't be surprised if the demon society didn't know what to do with her lolol.

Yes, your view of the situation is correct...and I dont think Kagome would be so insensitive to do the opposite of Sesshomaru all the time...I think she was just trying to loosen the feeling of being caged. I am pretty sure she will still be cautious of how much freedom she will have. She is just saying that she wouldnt follow everryytthhing sesshomaru asks of her ^_^.
