The girl stood just before the well, her sapphire eyes widening in shock. A pillar of white blocked her path to the village. A pair of golden eyes pierced her very soul, their honey-colored depths glinting with an intriguing light.

"Se-Se... Sesshoumaru?" She stammered, shocked.

The daiyoukai craned his elegant neck, never breaking eye contact with her.

"Kagome." His smooth, timbre voice murmured back.

She looked around, bemused. Was she hallucinating? Had she finally cracked? Blinking rapidly, she looked at the dog demon in utter confusion.

"What are you doing here? I thought..." Her throat clenched. She couldn't say it.

The daiyoukai's angelic face remained stony.

"I have come to take back what is mine." He stated, his deep voice steely.

Kagome gulped.

"A-and what is that?" She asked, her heart pounding in her chest.

Silence echoed between them. A breeze blew, causing her hair and dress to sway with the long grass beneath her feet. She stared at him, entranced and hopeful. His moonlight-tresses danced in the summer wind, each strand glistening in the sun's rays like woven diamond.

Then, he slowly raised his hand and turned it palm side up. Kagome felt her mouth drop open as the inu youkai held out his hand, his probing stare never wavering from her confused gaze.

"You." He replied.
