When Sesshomaru asks why she doesn't believe him... he means when he tells her court people don't know anything about her, or to not listen to them. The people from court know the Inu no Taisho adopted a hanyou daughter, they don't know why. They don't know she can transform into her beast. They are angered about all the privileges she receives.
As expected they treat her poorly. Sesshomaru is trying to deal with the situation (her self-esteem) as maturely as he can, but well... he's young still and is doing half all right.
Lastly, I supposed we know why Roiyaru is here, no? The dragons, in the last chapter, wanted to unite the two clans with a mating between one of the princes and Kagome. Roiyaru is the one the Inu no Taisho likes the most. Now is up to Kagome to do as she pleases. She doesn't know Roiyaru likes her, and no one's told her about this mating proposal so she just sees him like someone she can spend time with and who doesn't treat her badly because she's hanyou. Besides, he may be the only other hanyou she has contact with. He's someone she can learn about her hanyou nature from.

so the moral being don't make assumptions, trust people a little, and if you think you understand a situation, make sure you get more facts from opposing views.

Gold is a life achievement better left for another rant for now I believe I have gotten a bit off topic.
