Disclaimer: I own nothing of the Inuyasha franchise nor do I have any sway towards the song from a table away by sunny Sweeney. Thanks cruel world.

If the person you think is meant for you, Go out into public and be your crazy self. Put no restrictions on your actions. Act just like you were with your best friend. If they can stay threw that, they might just be the one. -- Me
-----chapter 1
Kagome Laughed hard at the face her friend made as she carefully maneuvered the present in her hand, trying not squish the delicate object. Wiping a tear from her eye she straightened up, swiping imaginary lint from her ruffled blue dress.
Entering into the dimly lit room, she headed towards the back of the restaurant. Looking around with a smile she stopped dead in her tracks. A couple were at a secluded back table away from prying eyes.
They sat close to each other, hands entwined and lips close to touching and all she could do was just stand there and stare, horrified at the scene.
Had it not been for her dearest friend to gently touch her arm, effectively breaking the spell on her, she would have stood there forever.
No matter how hard she tried, she could not stop torturing herself with stealing glances back at the happy couple. Her eyes zeroed in on the simple yet elegant wedding band on her finger.
“I guess that things are better. You must have figured everything out at home. You said that you were leaving her. I guess not.”
Kagome turned her head away, plastering a smile on her face as her friends let out a cheer and toasted to another great year for Rin. Desperately trying to ignore the husband and wife behind her.
Talking to Ayumi on the right of her, she carried on with the young woman about how old Rin was getting, ignoring the fact that they were a year older. Shifting slightly she brought the couple back into her sights just to see the man hand the woman a jewelry case. Watching as he whispered “I love you” to her.
Quickly excusing herself she rushed to the bathroom corridor. Leaning against the wall, she slowly slid down till she hit the floor and covered her face as the tears started to fall. She sat there for 10 minutes crying before a few other ladies came in, stopping suddenly as they spotted her, a look of compassion on their faces at her distraught form.
Quickly they left her to herself.
It was then that she got the courage to pick her-self up and enter the bathroom. Looking in the mirror she saw her puffy eyes and the beginnings of her light mascara to roll down her cheeks.
Coming to a decision, Kagome cleaned herself up leaving the room to join the others.
Sitting there for another hour or so just having a good time. She didn’t glance at the table once and for that, she was proud of herself. As they all left the establishment she took the opposite way of when she came in, bidding her friends a safe ride home.
Sliding into her little grey sedan she let out a deep breath and inserted her keys into the ignition. Just as she was about to turn it over she spotted them exiting.
Holding hands they headed towards the black SUV she had come to associate with him. She watched as he pushed her towards the vehicle, kissing her passionately, her hands buried in his long silver hair. Grasping it in a similar way that she had done, only days before.
Letting a tear slip down her face, promising that it would be the last one ever wasted on him she started her car and drove home. Dragging herself up the front steps and in threw the door of her home; she kicked off her shoes not caring where they ended up at that moment in time.
Kagome made her way to her shower stripping of everything in the process and proceeded to submerge herself in the scalding liquid. A morbid idea that maybe she could scrub and drown out all the memories of him. As the water went cold she reluctantly got out, wrapping herself in a fluffy bath robe.
As she turned down the covers and crawled into bed, her cell phone went off on the night stand. Glancing over she saw that it was him. Just staring at it as it rang she debated on what she would do, how she would handle this situation, finally the contraption fell silent only to light up saying she had a text message.
Flipping open the screen the words jumped out at her
“Hey baby, just finished the meeting. What are you doing tonight?”
She pondered how to answer him, to just let loose and tell him everything or to even bother answering at all.
“I bet you’ll never guess who I saw tonight.”
She proceeded to turn off her phone.
