Chapter 1

Nearly silent steps echoed through the long, dark halls. Walls, lit with only torches and the full moon in the sky, a lonesome woman stepped into her garden and hummed to herself an old melody.

Soon. Soon, she would be back again, if only for three nights. But that was enough to give her hope. Like the last year. And the year before… Since twenty years.

She halted in her steps and looked in her garden. More than anything else, she missed the daylight. This place was dark and unwelcome. Still, this was her home now. Forever, it would seem.
