Curse
Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot of this drabble series does belong to me as well as any OCs that may show up along the way.
A/N: This is my take on “The Frog Prince” by the Brothers Grimm with a splash of “Beauty and the Beast” goodness. I do hope you’ll enjoy the horrible trials and tribulations our favorite couple will go through.
Chapter 1: Curse
“How dare you disrespect me, you arrogant dog!”
A beautiful, stoic male sniffed disdainfully as he studied the red-faced woman before him. There was a glint in his cold eyes as amber flashed crimson in warning. Lazily flicking long silver tresses over his shoulder, he smirked, enraging her even further.
“This Sesshoumaru may do as he pleases, wench. Leave this one’s presence immediately, or I will crush you beneath my boot like the insignificant little insect you are.”
Hisana’s emerald orbs, suddenly aflame with an eerie white light, narrowed angrily. “You will rue this day, mongrel!” she screeched, pointing an accusing finger at the daiyoukai sitting at his throne.
Sesshoumaru stiffened as he watched the brunette’s hair float in the air, swaying wildly about her like the unpredictable, rolling waves of the ocean. Several tendrils of a sickly green light shot from her outstretched hands and coiled around him.
“I, Hisana of the Kodama, curse you Western Lord! You, whose impudence and cruelty know no bounds, will live the rest of your life as what you truly are – a wicked beast! You will be no better than the dirt beneath your feet!” she hissed.
The strings of her energy held the object of her ire in midair…constricting, pulling, and suffocating him until his body finally slumped to the floor.
After a few moments, Hisana stood before his unconscious form, a remorseful expression flitting across her features. Sighing quietly, she withdrew her aura and crouched down to his level, tracing a fingertip over the crescent moon on his forehead.
“This could have been avoided, you know,” she whispered. “But your pride, however great, has become a problem. This thirst for power has clouded your judgment and has made you foolish.” She frowned deeply. “It is such a shame that you, a being from nature, can be so ignorant. One has no purpose ruling a kingdom without subjects.”
The child of the forest spirits stood up, her gaze contemplative.
“You have dwelled in your solitude for far too long, young Lord. But luckily for you, I have changed my mind.” Hisana hummed as she nodded approvingly. “I will give you one chance, pup. If you fail, you will suffer in this form for all eternity.”
The woman snapped her fingers and a sword materialized beside Sesshoumaru.
“Tenseiga shall be your salvation.”

A/N: By the way, I know this chapter is much longer than required for the normal length of a DDN prompt, but I was inspired by it and just went with the flow. I think it’s a nice change from my usual 100-word snippets. :)
