Thank You

AN: This is just something that I came up with after listening to some Simple Plan. Kind of angsty, but I thought it was a little bit different. Hope you enjoy. I don't own Inuyasha or it's characters and I don't own Simple Plan. This is purely for enjoyment, no money is being made.

The café was especially busy that day. Waiters were rushing between tables carrying full trays. Kagome sat playing with the straw in her water as she listened to her best friend talk. “He is the most amazing guy! He is so sweet and romantic, and so sexy!” Sango gushed.

Kagome just smiled, truly happy for Sango, after her last relationship which ended very badly. Kagome had let Sango live with her for a month helping her get to the point where Sango would be able to make it through the day without breaking down. “Well, I can’t wait until I can finally meet him,” Kagome joked.

Sango just smiled, “Well he is really busy working the business world, hopefully there will be some time that he can take to meet everyone.”

“Well at least he and Sesshomaru will be able to have something to talk about. That will at least keep them occupied.” Kagome laughed, “I swear that man works way too hard.” Kagome looked at the time and gathered her things. “Well I need to get ready; Sesshomaru said he was going to take me out tonight to make up for how busy he has been. I’ll catch you later.”

Kagome arrived home and showered, letting the water run down her form. She had never been self-conscious of her body, but she never had to the hard muscles that Sango had. She was full of soft curves and an innocent beauty that many would consider timeless. Stepping out of the shower she wrapped a towel around herself and dried her hair, pulling it up out of her face and applying makeup. She changed into a beautiful silver dress that fluttered at the knees. Adding her heels, she went to answer the knock at her door.

Sesshomaru stood outside the door looking as gorgeous as ever, with his godlike appearance that made him otherworldly. “You look stunning,” he said spinning Kagome around. Leading Kagome outside he brought her to his expensive sports car and they arrived at a beautiful restaurant.

Part way through dinner Sesshomaru presented Kagome with a stunning diamond and sapphire necklace. Coming around behind her, Kagome lifted her hair off her neck as Sesshomaru fastened the necklace around her neck. “Sesshomaru, this is beautiful,” Kagome reverently said brushing her fingers against the necklace. Sesshomaru lifted her hand to lips and kissed her knuckles. “You are one to most precious things in my life.”

Kagome gazed at him with all the love she possessed. ‘He’s the one,’ she thought wistfully.

Weeks had passed and Kagome was helping Sango get ready for a date with her mystery man. “I’m so excited Kagome! Look at these beautiful pearls he got me,” she showed putting on a beautiful pearl necklace and earrings. “These are lovely Sango, he must really love you. He sounds absolutely perfect.” Sango just beamed at Kagome’s praise. “What are you and Sesshomaru doing tonight?” Sango asked.

“Sesshomaru has a business dinner, so his father and I are going to be meeting up to go over the details of a new proposal he wants to create for the company.” Kagome explained excitedly. Sango nodded enthusiastically as she put the finishing touches of her makeup on. “Well, you have fun Sango, and call me about it later!” Kagome hugged her and hurried down the stairs so she wouldn’t be late meeting Toga.

Heavily engrossed into the finer details of the proposal, Kagome was oblivious to the people around her. Toga looked up slightly confused, “I didn’t know Sesshomaru was going to be here tonight.” Kagome looked at him puzzled, “He said he had a business dinner tonight, maybe this is where they decided to go.”

Toga narrowed his eyes as he glanced between Kagome and something behind her. Kagome turned and followed Toga’s line of vision, not exactly understanding what she was seeing. There Sesshomaru was sitting at a table; the unusual part was the business associate sitting with him. “What is Sango doing with him? She was supposed to have a date toni…” Kagome trailed off as her eyes widened.

She turned in her seat with her bangs overshadowing her eyes and her hands clenched into tight, shaking fists. Toga looked at her concerned, “Kagome…” he whispered. Kagome just stood up slowly with her head held high, not letting the tears that wanted to fall escape. “I’ll be taking a two week vacation.” She then turned and walked towards Sesshomaru’s table and stopped just behind Sango who was laughing at something Sesshomaru had said. Sesshomaru looked up and his eyes widened as he let go of Sango’s hand.

Kagome smiled bitterly as she slowly undid the diamond and sapphire necklace around her neck, slamming it onto the table. She looked at Sango with dead eyes, “Thank you for showing me that best friends cannot be trusted.” Than looking at Sesshomaru with all the heartbreak and disdain she held for him, “I believe this belongs to the most precious thing in your life.” She turned and walked confidently out of the restaurant heading back to her apartment to re-evaluate her life and to destroy some of her past memories and to write up her two-weeks’ notice.

5 years later

Kagome looked down at the ring which was glittering in her finger never thinking this day would come, after the fiasco that was known as her last relationship. She grabbed all the files needed for the court case the next day and headed toward the leading lawyer of the case, also her boss. Placing the files on the table she stood behind him and started massaging his tense shoulders. “Has the client been giving you a lot of problems again?”

He just grunted, “It seems there is a paternity concern and now he wants his ex to have a paternity test done on the child before he even considers handing any money over.” Kagome just rolled her eyes at the entire situation, glad that she had gotten herself out of there before this blew up, although she had to admit that she missed Toga. “Sesshomaru should have known this was going to happen, I can’t exactly say that I’m surprised he’s having these problems with Sango.”

The lawyer just turned his chair around and pulled Kagome into his lap. “I have to say that his mistakes have been my greatest gain,” he said as he pulled her left hand to his lips and kissed his ring, counting down the days until the wedding band would be sitting with it as well as its match on his own finger. Pulling her lips down to meet his, “I love you,” he groaned.

Kagome smiled and pecked his lips again and ran her fingers through his hair, “I love you too Naraku.”
