A/N: This drabble was inspired by the October 17th GM DDN Prompt no. 6: Anodyne

“Sesshomaru?” she whispered, eyes opening to peer at him.  “Please... before I go... make love to me?”

The daiyokai was taken off guard by the request.  He hadn’t expected his dead brother’s dying mate to ask it of him.  It wasn’t like she was old, or unattractive.  He just had never thought of her in that manner.

Hesitantly, he nodded.  “Very well,” he murmured, standing to disrobe.  “For just once, I will do you this favor, miko.”

For just once, he would be the anodyne to her physical and emotional pain.  He would soothe her soul and let her die with some measure of peace.  Just once.

And when the pieces fell, and her life was gone... he would come to discover that, while he had given her peace, she had taken his away.  He would forever mourn her death.
