Too Late by Adaira
Chapter 1
Alone, cold, and blinded by a bandage over her eyes a girls with usually clean raven black hair lay in a bed her hand and legs bound, too keep her from trying to kill herself.
"Patient Higurashi, Kagome." A male voice said close to her. His voice filled with authority.
"Y... yes..." She said her voice filled with fear, as she felt her legs and arms being unshackled.
"You have a visitor." The voice simple said as she felt her self pulled to her feet and lead away.
All around her she could hear the terrible noises form the other patients in this hospital. There were some who were screaming, as they tried to fight their doctors, against one of the many different treatments. Others were crying out of fear, wondering if this is the place that they are going to die. The sounds haunted the young girl, of eight teen. She was jerked to a stop as the man leading her lead her into a room. Were she was pushed into a chair to wait for her visitor to be lead in.
The room was quiet. No longer could she hear the screams and the tears. Just the silent ticking of a clock on a near by wall.
A door to the room creaked open slowly and she turned her head towards the sound.
"Kagome," She heard the whisper of the familiar voice. "Oh, my darling, Kagome." The person who just entered the room ran over to her, and embraced her in a hug.
Kagome said nothing, nor did she hug the person back.
"Kagome, it's me, you mother." The woman said as she caressed her daughter's face. Wishing she could see her daughter's bright blue eyes, again.
"My mother..." Kagome stared as she moved her head to look away from the voice, "is dead." She said, her head held high.
"Kagome...." The voice said with sadness. "You have to understand... I didn't know what to do. You wouldn't eat, you tried to kill yourself. I did what I thought was best."
Kagome ignored her mother and focused on the sounds in the other room where her mother had come from. She could her someone demanding to be let it. Then the door was pushed open.
"Hey your not suppose to be in there." One of the security guards shouted after the person who entered the room.
She listened to the steps of the person who entered, drowning out her mother's voice.
"Kagome..." The voice whispered in shock and horror.
"Inu....yasha..." Kagome whispered.
When her mother heard Kagome say that name she stopped talking and looked around only to find that the room was empty. She noticed the direction that her daughter was facing but there was no one there.
Kagome listened to the foot steps approach her. The familiar sound of Inuyasha bear feet slapping the ground as he walked over to her. She closed her eyes and pictured his face, she could see it just like she remember only this time his eyes were sad, shocked, confused, angry, and worried.
"Kagome... what happened? What is this place? Why are you here?" His voice asked her, as she heard him kneel next to her, and felt his hand caress her face.
"Ohh, Inuyasha... I don't know what happened," Kagome started crying as she started to explain, "One moment I was with you, Sango, Miroku, and Shippo, and the next I was dragged back to my time. I tried everything to get back to you guys. But... but the well wouldn't let me."
Kagome's mother was scared; her daughter was talking to people who didn't exist anymore. There was no one in the room except Kagome and her. Besides Inuyasha was dead... he had to be, he live five hundred years in the past.
Kagome looked towards where Inuyasha was sitting, her tears making the bandages over her eyes damp. She felt him touch the bandages and knew he was wondering why she had them on, but she didn't know how to tell him. That her mother couldn't stand to look at her in the eyes, to see how dead she was inside, that it was her mother who requested that the doctors blind fold Kagome, and only take them off when she was better.
"Kagome..." Inuyasha whispered to her lovingly as he continued to caress her face, "Don't worry Kagome. I will help you escape."
Kagome felt his hand start to fade away, his touch becoming nothing but air.
"Inuyasha don't go... please don't leave me here." Kagome said desperately.
"I will come for you Kagome." That was the last she heard of Inuyasha voice.
"Please," Kagome cried, "don't leave me..."
Kagome's mother stood up and looked at the mirror over on the right wall, and nodded. Soon after that three nurses came into the room.
"Kagome," her mother started not looking at her daughter, "I love you."
Kagome said nothing as she continued to cry and wish for Inuyasha to come back.
"Good bye." Her mother said and Kagome listen to her foot steps disappear.
After her mother left, Kagome was grabbed by the nurses and lead out of the room. Towards her bed again.
As she was lead to her bed she could hear Inuyasha's voice in her head. Promising to come and save her from this terrible nightmare. But she knew no help would ever come.
