Meant To Be by Nikki
Chapter One
Hey everyone its SunShine, I just wanted to open with a new story I haven't wrote in quite a while and I'm hoping that you enjoy this. This story has no reflection on my life I'm happily married with a beautiful daughter, but I do sympathize with others who have experienced a tragedy like this one I couldn't even begin to imagine the pain. On another note I don't want you to base this story on the first chapter it is not a sad story.
P.S. Do not feel bad if you tear up, I certainly did when I was writing it.
Chapter One
long perfectly manicured fingers ran through dark wavy hair, blue eyes looked up to meet red ones across a baroque coffee table only a stack of papers and a fountain pen between them.
“Are you sure about this?” at the young woman's nod the man picked up the pen and elegantly signed his name on the dotted line, handing the pen over to her she quickly did the same. Placing the pen down once done she quickly swiped the tear that escaped down her cheek. “Kagome please don't cry.”
“Yeah I know sorry, this is for the best, I just can't believe I won't be Mrs. Naraku Takada anymore.” a few more tears slipped down her cheeks Naraku moved to the couch she was seated on and cupped her face in his hands gently sweeping away her tears with his thumbs. Kagome slowly closed her eyes at the feel of his skin on hers and reached and grabbed a fistful of his shoulder length, wavy, brown hair petting it. “I'm going to miss this. I'm going to miss you, but this was my idea and a need to stick with it. If we would have stayed the way we was it would have ended badly.”
“I couldn't have that, I need you in my life even if its not as husband and wife anymore and it's just friends. Your more important to me than anything in this world and your happiness means everything, and I think this is the only way you will be happy.” Naraku sat back on the couch tucking her into his side like he always did. Kagome laid her head on his upper chest throwing her arm over his stomach and squeezing her eyes tightly closed know that this will be the last time he will hold her like this.
“How did it go so wrong we was so happy....”
Two Years Earlier...
Kagome sat at the kitchen bar clicking her nails on the black marble counter waiting a few more seconds when her timer went off she jumped her eyes flicking to the little white stick scared to look at the display. Not sure if the fear was for the want and not being or the being and not wanting. Finally gathering up her courage she picked it up and took a look, immediately smiling at the 2 little pink lines. She was pregnant, she couldn't believe it , or well she could cause it wasn't like they were ever careful, she was so excited at the thought of being someones mom. She looked back up at the clock and saw that Naraku was going to be home any minute and she couldn't wait to tell him the news.
Naraku walked through the front door sat his briefcase down and hung up his coat he turned to find his Kagome waiting for him, “Hey babe you startled me, are you OK your being weird, more than usual.” Kagome grabbed his hand and took him to the to the sitting room where she sat him on the couch and stood in front of him smiling like she had won the lottery.
“Something amazing happened today.” Naraku looked up and smiled back at her. “Take a guess.”
He thought a minute, “ You got a promotion?” Kagome shook her head. “That guy that bothers you got fired.” Again she shook her head no. “Babe I got no idea how about a hint.” Kagome took both of his hands on hers and gently placed the on her stomach, Naraku's eyes quickly flipped up to her tearful ones, he dropped to his knees and softly nuzzled her belly. “oh my beautiful pregnant Kagome.” He stood up taking her into his arms and giving her a passionate kiss.
Months went by, Kagome and Naraku went through their days floating on a cloud until about 4 months in Kagome was awakened late that night to sharp pains she quickly grabbed her stomach stifling a painful moan, she reached between her legs pulling her hand from beneath the covers she could see , even in the dark, red. She shook Naraku awake, “Naraku I'm bleeding we have to hurry.” Naraku quickly jumped out of bed and ran over to Kagome side seeing the blood on her hands and the sheets he picked her up bridal style and rushed her down stairs to the car and broke every speed limit making it to the hospital in record time. Kagome went into surgery trying to save the baby, but it was already gone. Kagome fell into a small depression after that but the days went by and she began to be her old self again even talking about trying again and seeing some fertility doctors. It happened twice more before she completely gave up not haveing the strength to survive another loss. The doctors couldn't fine anything wrong with either of then. They both decided that parenthood wasn't meant for them.
Present Time...
“You deserve a chance to be a father and that will never happen me.”
“Kagome don't ever say that i deserve something better cause I know for sure that your as good as it gets for me.” He let out a soft sigh wishing that they could have worked it out but know deep down that he agreed to this because he loved her and he knew this was what she needed.
Slowly they both got up from their places and proceeded to the front door. “Are you sure you don't want to stay here?”
Kagome looked up at her home of 6 years and shook her head, “I wanna stay in the city find a job and probably by a place close by, plus i could't be here without you.”
“You know you don't have to get a job your more than covered.”
“i know but I miss working, I quit during the second pregnancy to avoid the stress but I would really like to go back. You gonna be OK? Are you staying here?”
“For a little white but I plan to move into the penthouse in a week be closer to work myself.” He walked her over to her white Lexus and leaned against the driver side. “I don't know....”
“Know what?”
“How I'm gonna do tomorrow, hell I don't know how I'm gonna do tonight. Tonight I'm gonna walk up those stairs into that bedroom and settle in beneath the sheets, then reach through the blankets for you and your not gonna be there. I don;t know how I'm gonna go to sleep every night without holding you and burying my face in your hair breathing in your sweet scent. Or how I'm gonna wake every morning or go though my days with out your dazzling smile, mesmerizing laugh, or our beautiful heart. I'm gonna miss you babe more than you know.”
Kagome smiled as silent tears slid down her face, “ you could ask me to forget this and run away to some tropical island for the rest of our lives and I'd say yes in a heart beat, I'll never love anyone the way i love you and I'm gonna miss everything that we were and what we could have been.”
Kagome got into her car sliding her seat belt over her chest and clicking it into place, Naraku looked at her trying to think of something that would make her leave with a smile on her face. “you know what I'll probably miss the most.” he continued at her questioning stare, “The mind blowing sex.”
Kagome let out a hearty laugh, “Yeah that was definitely never one of our problems I'm gonna miss it to.”
“Well babe anytime your feeling lonely I'm just a call away.”
“ill keep that in mind.”
Kagome started up her engine and drove out of the driveway away from a wonderful home with a wonderful husband and a wonderful life and hopefully to something just as wonderful.
