Return and a new beginning

Kagome softly hummed along to the song inside her head as she finished packing supplies into her backpack. She was excited and nervous because in the first time for five years she would be returning back to the feudal era to finish the mission she had left there. She hadn't left on purpose, no five years ago she had returned home like she often did. To catch up on school and to restock their supplies. It was only suppose to be a few days, but when the time came to return she found she could not pass through. The well wouldn't let her go.

She decided to wait a few days, see if maybe Inuyasha would come and get her when the well started working again. A few days passed and he never came, so she tried again and again and again. Until her mother pulled her out of the well house, dirty and broken and made her come inside and wait. Even though she tried so many times she knew, the magic of the well was gone. It was no longer a magical well, just an old dried up one.

As the weeks passed she had wondered why. Why had the well stopped working? Her mission in that time wasn't over, it wasn't complete. She still had the jewel shards her group had collected and the last time she had left Naraku hadn't been stopped. So why did the well suddenly close? The thought that her companions, her friends, no longer needed her and they sealed the well came to mind. The thought that Kikyo had convinced them to leave her had also come to mind. But then she realized neither of those could be it, for if either were the case they would have sent Inuyasha through to get her jewel shards. But he never came for them.

She had pulled into herself after a few months Even though she was relieved her friends had not abandoned her, she still felt depressed. Life wasn't the same. She couldn't completely return back to being the average school girl she once was. With the sudden change she felt listless. It was weird considering when she was always in feudal era she often dreamed of what it would be like to be normal again once it was all over. But now that she had that? She didn't want it.

Kagome was pulled from her thoughts as she heard a knock at her door, giving the person permission to enter she turned to greet them. She smiled as her mother came into her room.

“Are you almost packed dear?” Her mother questioned.

Kagome nodded “Yeah, I just have a few things left and then I'll be ready to go. Thanks for letting me know when you felt the well's magic again”

Her mother nodded “Of course, I told you when you left that I'd call you as soon as I felt anything” she replied before turning to head out the door again “We will be waiting downstairs for you” with those words said she shut the door to Kagome's room leaving her to her thoughts again.

Kagome turned back to her bag and put the last item in. Zipping it shut, she then turned back toward her bed and picked up her weapons that were lying on it. She had her usual bow and arrow, something she had mastered in the last few years. As well as a Knife and a bo. Once all weapons were placed where they should be on her, she picked up her bag and began down the stairs her mind was once again drifting to the past few years.

After six months of grieving her mother had decided enough was enough and had told her that she was going to be leaving for awhile. That she'd be going somewhere away from the well, so she could clear her mind. Her mother had told her she'd be going to America. That was something Kagome had thought was bizarre. Why America? They had never even been. Her mother had told her that they had family out there, family that had agreed to let her stay for as long as she needed to be there and that she could come back anytime.

Her mother was stubborn, apparently it was where she got her stubbornness, because no matter how much she resisted her mother kept pushing. After weeks of butting heads with her mother she finally gave in after her mother promised to call if anything came up. With that, she boarded a plane to America. More specifically South Dakota.

She wasn't sure what to expect when she went there. Her mother had told her the family member was a long lost uncle, except he wasn't exactly lost since her mother had been in contact with him for who knows how long. All she got was that his name was Bobby Singer and a description of him. From that it was easy to spot him once she got off the plane, the fact that he was holding a sign with her name helped.

She wasn't sure how distant of an Uncle he was to her, but she was glad that he spoke Japanese, especially since her English wasn't the best. Having someone to speak to in her native language made it easier to adjust to the move and the difference between the countries and the cultures they had. She liked Bobby, he was an easy person to like and get along with. She also liked his house. It was a worn house, but it felt comfortable. It felt safe.

She also liked how many books he had. Often times when he was busy working, she kept herself busy by either reading one of the books he had or studying her English. She lived a comfortable life with him for a few months like that. During those months she was never sure what exactly he did for a living. He had told her that he is a hunter, but she didn't believe that. Not completely. He seemed to be hiding something, but she didn't push for more details. Feeling like it would be rude of her to do so.

But one night she wished she had asked, because on that night she had learned what it was he really did in a way she wished she hadn't.

It had been like any other night, except on this night he got two guests. Two men, they introduced themselves as Sam and Dean. After the introductions were done Bobby had said that they'd be going down into the basement to go over a few things. She had nodded and told him she'd be In the living room reading one of the books.

After all three men went downstairs she went to go do as she had said, but then she heard a noise coming from the back door. Letting her curiosity get the better of her she went to investigate. As she got closer to the door, she felt her instincts tell her to stop. To get away from the door and go get Bobby. Suddenly, the house that she had felt so safe in no longer felt safe. When she was a few feet away from the door, she stopped and her whole body went stiff when she felt it. On the other end of the door was something, something bad.

It felt human, but twisted. So twisted and evil. The only thing she felt similar to this was Naraku, but this felt even worse than he had. That was when she had decided to listen to what her body had been trying to tell her, she turned to run away from the door and yelled for Bobby. But it was too late, the door burst open and the being she had felt entered. She was surprised that he looked so human at least he did, until she looked at his eyes and noticed they were pitch black.

The being jumped at her and started attacking. Taunting her with empty threats. She heard as Bobby and the others came up, weapons in their hands. She felt as the being got closer to her, and all she knew was that she wanted it away from her. So she reached up her hands and pushed it away. Her eyes had widened in surprise when she heard the being shriek and step back, it was clawing at it's body which soon started to smoke and then its a bright light came from it's mouth and eyes. The body dropped to the floor after the light disappeared.

She had looked back at Bobby, Dean and Sam and saw them all looking at her in surprise. She was surprised too, she had just killed a human. After a few moments, they came back to their senses and explained to her that what she had just killed was not a human, but a demon. That surprised her, for all demons she knew did not feel like that. At least, not the real demons she knew. Bobby then told her that he was a hunter of supernatural beings, as were Sam and Dean. That explained all of the books he had.

It was then her turn to explain, what she could, on what had happened. She told them about her 'powers'. Her spiritual ability and that she was a “miko” and some of her adventures in the past. Sam and Dean thought it would be best that she be trained, but Bobby wasn't on board with it at first, after all- he had told her mom that he'd give her as normal of a life as possible.

Thankfully, he had soon gave in and they began teaching her everything they knew. About hunting and fighting. She perfected her archery skills and also favored more “old school” weaponry as Dean put it. She also learned hand to hand combat. Not right away, of course, she learned everything over the years. But as soon as she was pulled into the hunter world, she completely broke free of feeling listless, she felt alive again and for that she'd always be grateful.

She smiled softly at that as she touched the old beaten cap that was attached to her belt. Yes, she'd always be grateful to them and all that they taught her and now, now she would be putting it all to good use. To finish the mission she had been forced to leave behind.

Stepping into the kitchen she nodded in greeting to her family. One by one she gave them a hug, finally coming to her mother she hugged her tightly. “I'll try and check in when I can. Haru will keep you safe while I'm gone though” she stated as she pulled back.

Her mother nodded “Okay, please Kagome just take care of yourself. You've been in America for the last few years and just got back, I don't want to lose you to that era.”

Kagome smiled “Don't worry Mama. I'll be safe, after all I am trained now and if worse comes to worse I have my guard dogs with me” she stated.

Her mother rolled her eyes before motioning for Kagome to go. Saying goodbye to her family once more she went outside. Turning her attention to the side of the house she smiled softly “Haru, you are to stay with my family. Keep them safe when I'm gone.” Hearing a soft whine in response, she began to walk toward the well house “Hannah and Ru you will both be coming with me, I'm sure you will both like it in that era” she heard them huff in response. She didn't need to look back to know that they were following her closely, they always did.

Opening the well house doors she quickly made her way to the well Here goes nothing she thought as she jumped inside the wells depths, feeling relieved as the magic of the well surrounded her.

A/N: This probably won't be a long story, but hopefully it'll be one I can actually finish XD This is kind of a supernatural crossover, obviously. But the supernatural characters*Dean, Sam, Bobby, etc* will all be mentioned as a memory of her time with them. They won't be current in the story. Something from “supernatural” is coming back to the feudal era with her though! Hopefully the flow of this chapter was okay and wasn't too confusing. I'm going to try and update at least once a week, my bird removed most of the keys to my keyboard. I can still type but it takes me awhile ^^;
