This story sounds interesting, keep it coming.
Okay, so I just went and read the reviews, and I couldn't help but agree with kyoandyuya regarding the cultural norms in asian children. So another review!
kyoandyuya was very right about this, and I just want to bring it to attention. Asian children were raised to value and be grateful to the people who grew them up greatly. My family has both asians and caucasians, and I see that such a thing was never emphasized or disciplined in American culture. Because, here, we're all about autonomy, "so you're 18 now?" "Good riddance" and "thanks mom and dad, I can make my own money now, bye". I feel like, we Americans certainly say "I love you" a lot but do very little about it. Like I mentioned in my earlier review, all my cousin cares about is her happiness, her friends, and how much freedom her friends got while her own parents are too strict, "no strapless dress" "less internet please" "less boyfriends please" "shut the door nicely, it's late" "eat all your food" "don't walk around doing nothing but texting!"...
While I do agree with kyoandyuya, there are special cases of spolied rotten brats who were raised from very rich family, with chauffeurs, cooks, maids, all around, where the kids interact very little with their parents. Or kids that are always abroad studying things with no financial worry. Kids with brand new sport cars and brand name apparels.... Some of them tend to grow unappreciative of the things they have, and in turn, care less about the things their parents always do for them.
long rant... sorry :) So I hope you will have Rin's behavior justified appropriately, seeing that she's Asian. But of course, all I said is void, if Kagome really turn out to have been a bad mother.
Woooooow....
1. I think, there is NO WAY HOME for this situation. But since you wanted it to be THE LONG WAY HOME, I think the home/reconcilation thing should happen when they're all old and gray.
2. I love realistic angst, and you promised real life one, so I can't what to read more about this. I have seen my cousin being disrespectful and totally heartless towards her parents, so this is not new. Kids like her, care about friends and their own fun more than family. Not to mention all that wealth that Sesshoumaru's family bath in. Peer pressure, work stress, amplified with originally-jackass-personality, can really knock a few screws loose in some peoples' heads.
3. How often will you be updating this? I'm so excited to read more. Angst and regret is like my brain's second favorite food!
Thanks for sharing and please write soon :D
Holy jeez, wtf Rin...
Gr8 story!!! though i can't fathom why they are behaving this way, especially rin!!? its horrible!! Kagome should definately get away!!! but then there has to be a deeper meaning to all of it..... can't wait to find out...
Not sure if I'll like this story but I'll give it a couple of chapters before deciding. All three characters seems really dis functional and honestly a divorce is the right way to go. I think the most disturbing thing was Rin cheering her own mother getting slapped and Sesshomaru laughing and joking about it afterwards. I don't see any redeeming quality in either of these characters as just displayed. I thought that maybe Kagome might have felt taken for granted or neglected but the abuse displayed by both daughter and father was unexceptable and did not show just show emotional and verbal abuse but physical abuse, too.
The jury is still out on Kagome. Not enough information to form a thought here and everything is set from her point of view. Her action/reactions on some level appear very childish. She is the parent and should always be concerned/aware of her childs where abouts. At face value, Kagome looks like a woman in an abusive relationship but you have to question how her daughter got to be the way she is. What role and actions had her daughter turn on her. It's got to be more than Rin being a daddy's girl.
What makes a romance story work is that you want the couple to succeed and get the happily ever after. This story has me cheering Kagome to get away and sadly, if she were to return, she'd be another statistic of an abusive victim returning to her abuser. The child is pretty much already screwed up and is going to need counseling with the road she is on.
The writing technique is good and so is the story line. The character's actions, however, are so wrong that if you don't handle how they get back together right, then you could end up with a story romanticising domestic abuse.
I kind of forgot to input another part of the comment.
Regarding Kagome, i do feel sympathy for her. Her standard of living with a rather obtuse if not emotionally abusive husband and child was wrong. Something that no-one should endure. But what concerned me was her lack of intrest in Rin..in the last segement of the chapter. When she is trying to have a discussion with sesshoumaru over her decision. How dismissive she was; some might comment that the reason lies because of Rin's behavoir from before, but in even so Rin is underage. Rin is a minor, and a mother under normal circumstances despite how many times a child wronged them, would still call to check up on them. Even if a certain extent they had given up on their child, they would still bless them and call to see that they are in a good state of mind and living. Of course that was an imporant moment but she should of still tried to make contact no matter how one sided it was.
Of course Sesshoumaru is not completely blameless either, his behavoir and lack at attempt to discpline Rin was an epic fail. He provided a rather negative area where Rin picked up his lack of respect for Kagome; His wife and mother of his child. OBviously they have a rather unstable relationship where no respect is found whatsoever, especially from his side. And Well rin picked up on it. It angers me how much he disrespected kagome. (i love the ship.)
Well rin, a rather conflicted area since i'm so used to her being protrayed as the good child, it was a suprising her to be seen as antogonist for the first chapter. I just wish she will open her eyes to the situtation.
Overall , tense chapter that left me feeling. Well just feeling ...so much. Looking forward to futher chapters.
Intense chapter. I really felt sympathy for Kagome. She doesn't deserve that. I'm kind of hoping that when she leaves she goes on an adventure...somewhere. Meeting new people ect ....all the while having this growth in her. Or something ,Along with Sesshomaru and Rin whom i'm feeling so conflicted over, since i'm so used to her being a protrayed as a good child.

You NEED to continue! I just must see how this all plays out!
Oh, this is just cruel, Wahhh. Haha. but as a reader it's easy to be drawn to a character's suffering. Looking forward to more! :)
Saiya (Chapter 1) - Mon 05 Oct 2015
I hope rin know that if she had recorded that then her mother could use it in court to show abuse. what a fucking asshole of a husband and child. does he even realize that Rin only treats kogome that way because thats how she grew up watch him treat her like that.
Mona (Chapter 1) - Mon 05 Oct 2015

Didie (Chapter 1) - Mon 05 Oct 2015
Oh nooooo....! I'm in the same page with Kyoandyuya-san! Worse, I even uncomfortable with Western ways for calling your elder siblings, just their names, without specific words to describe Big-sister or Big-brother, in Japan they have Onee-san and Onii-san, in Korea they have Unni-Oppa or Noona-Hyung, and so on... So I really couldn't stomach Rin's behavior, that's too much disrespecful.... You made me that didn't have so much care for Rin in the first place, came to hate her... ckckckck...
