Maybe conciously Kagome does not realize what is going on, but I think her instincts and her subconcious mind already knows what is going on or is figuring it out. Why else would Kagome be so flustered and anticipate Sesshomaru's return? or be a little apprehensive about him finding her cooking lacking or even outright rejecting her own efforts?
It will be very interesting to see what happens when her subconcious lets her concious mind come to the realization she is beginning to truly care for Sesshomaru far more than an ally and temporary protector. I think by the time Kagome gets her powers back and eventually comes into contact with her previous pack, she will no longer wish to separate from Sesshomaru, but stay with him. She may or may not already know she is beginning to love him, but she won't want to leave him and his pack.
I think you are doing an awesomesauce character development between Kagome, Sesshomaru, Shippo and the remaining pack members. Why I do believe Sango feels like Kagome is a sister, and perhaps Miroku does too....Sango already proved in the manga and anime that Miroku and her brother come before anyone. With Miroku's life hanging in the balance of defeating Naraku, whom just got a whole lot stronger, I do not find it difficult to imagine Sango convincing herself to leave Kagome behind. Kagome is thought to be the weakest in the pack (at least until much closer to the final battle) by her own pack. Shippo, to me, is the only one that never doubted Kagome and even gave her encouragement (to me, he gave her the most).
While Miroku occasionally gives out wisdom and mediates any fights, he would put Sango over Kagome as well. In his and Sango's mine, Kagome could always go home and be safe (forgetting the fact Kagome has always been too honorable to leave her friends in the mess they are in).
As for Inuyasha, from your plot, he is still in his "who-are-you-going-to-choose" phase. So in his immaturity I can see him abandoning Kagome. While it would break her heart, I think the abandonment by her "sister" and "brother" is what truly scarred her. She may not know it, but the tentative way she acts around Sesshomaru (unless that's part of their relationship at the moment), shows she is a bit more hesitant in trusting in everything. Sure she trusts Sesshomaru for protection. But she worried about the food situation until Sesshomaru asked her. She never offered food to him before. She doesn't really try to engage him like she did when she first met each member of her previous pack. There's a definite change in her actions with her new pack.
But that is just me re-reading all the chapters too hehe
I have completely fallen in love with this story. The short, leading chapters, the way the both of them are acting without knowing exactly what the other thinks about their actions... it's a masterpiece of storytelling. I can't wait to follow where you lead!
