From what I know, you can use either variation of these & still be correct. I think it really comes down to preference. I spell Sesshoumaru with the'U' obviously, and 'Taiyoukai' seems to be more commonly used, though I've seen it spelled 'Daiyoukai' in the manga. Wonderful story! I can't wait for an update!! XD

Oh my goodness...I'm absolutely in love. I agree with hikari hime that the characterizations are pitch perfect. Your writing is so atmospheric and emotive, it's like I feel your words buzzing through all my senses and tugging my heart. I love the use of the bedtime story as a device for illuminating Kagome's past. Brilliant idea. I'm very eager to read more of this.
