I enjoyed this story so much, while Inuyasha was very mean he kind of stays in character except for his lack of care in others; Sesshomaru is not inexplicably attracted to Kagome nor is he lowering his pride in any way or has a conflict with his thoughts at all, Miroku and Sango feel real and not props in the background, they care, express and participate; the mention of Shippo confused me at first since from the beggining they talk as if he is present but does not make an appearance until a later he is mentioned to be with Kaede; Kikyou is very in character here, maybe the most canon of all; in Kagome's case I think you touched many of her core personality troubles and manerisms, I like how she slowly realizes things by herself and wants to grow and improve herself. It kind of always bothered me how forgiving and selfless she is when the reality is that she IS only human, even in canon we see her inner struggle with herself, her purity comes not naturaly but from acknowleging her own flaws and trying to find peace within herself (even if I personaly think represing your own negative emotions is very bad, I guess Rumiko's goal was to represent the achievement of the purity of the soul through personal sacrifice like those of the monks and priests in real life). 

I love how everything flows naturally, it's never awkward passing from one scene to another and enjoy every bit of it all without feeling impatient for things to advance, even Naraku feels more like a goal than a threat in some parts. I hope you continue this amazing fic, I'm very curious about how things will go from there and not just because of the future strenght of Kagome and all, I love reading each step that every character takes.

Fantastic and realistic character portrayal, especially with Sesshoumaru. I hope he softens a little towards Kagome as the story progresses though, I am a hopeless softy! Nice to see a different portrayal of Kiyou and her motivations as well.

I love your story.  I like how you include all the characters faults and weaknesses.  It makes everyone in your story more three dimensional.  I also like the insight in to how other characters view other characters with in the story.  You have a great grasp on human nature and it shows in your writting.   I look forward to the next chapter.

Good chapter!  I liked the introspection that you gave to both Kikyo and Kagome's characters....it isn't so often that a sympathetic portrayal happens in S/K fics, so it was nice to see.  I am also enjoying the subtle parallels you are drawing between Inuyasha (losing his pack) and Kouga (losing the pack respect/Ayame)....going to be interesting to see how those play out.  Anyway, update soion!

Wowie!!! Long time, no read. This is a most excellent chapter. I'm glad Ayame finally gave Kouga the wake-up call he definitely deserves, but he's such a jerk. As for Inuyasha, he is an IDIOT! To throw his life away over the past is something I will never understand. I can't wait to see what happens next. 

love the story but I think I have found one inconsistency in the story. in Chap6 Kouga's gonna press his claim on Kagome but in chap1 this was said

Her friends could only try and comfort her for so long and she knew that their words were nothing more than written on water, meaning that while the words were there, there was no substance to back them up.  She supposed that had she given Kouga more attention, he would still be around; however, Ayame finally cornered him and beat him within an inch of his life before he realized that Ayame was the one for him.  She couldn’t find it within herself to be bitter, but she also could not find it within herself to be thrilled for the couple, either.

so is Kouga with Ayame and still wants Kagome or is he not with Ayame?

I've always been a fan of your stories, but I think this one is the best so far. I can see the difference between this story and your previous. It shows that you're really growing as an author.

I feel like this is how Sesshoumaru and Kagome would actually act if put in this situation. I can't wait to read more. ^.^

I don't have an account on here yet, so I can't really sign in. ^^;;

But anyways, I just read this today and I most certianly enjoyed it! It's a very interesting take on the Inuyasha characters and I believe that with a little push, Inuyasha himself will come to see the error of his ways.

As for Kikyou, I'm not quite sure WHAT to think about her. She's a very 'grey' character and even if she's bashed to hell and back, I'll still enjoy this fic. (I don't care for her all that much either)

Sesshoumaru seems pretty in character at this point in time and I GREALY enjoyed that. He's moving at his own pace and although he cares for Kagome to a degree, it isn't an immediate thing. At this point he's simply just doing his duty as her alpha.

I honestly enjoyed this fic and I hope to see more chatpers soon!

Btw was that Kouga at the end? Is he about to pester Inuyasha about Kagome? XD It'd be a pretty funny interaction, but I must wonder how Sesshoumaru will deal with him. D:

Awesome story, very interesting twist on how Kagome leaves the pack.  the only question I have is about Shippo.  Why isn't Kagome worried about him or visversa?
