hey the story is very nice so far...it funny to read about all the cultural misunderstandings / mistakes ...it's really interesting to see all the differences...we had a few exchange students from the US and i was really astonished.... we went to a restaurant with our families once...seems americans are very casual regarding table manners :D some were cutting the meat first and afterwards ate everything with just the fork...or spoke while chewing and sat with their elbows on the table...i have to say we were kinda shocked...but we got used to it :)
by the way...we don't curse so often :D (never heard someone curse so much as one of the *exchange-dads when his car didn't want to start* :P ) and we never use something like *ficken*...that's a very vulgar word for sex....
we typicaly use something like *Verdammt!*-->Damn Mist!*-->Crud a more *lowly* expression would be *Scheiße* --> Shit :) hope i could help you a little bit...
Wow, what a great story! I was really curious how you (or better, Sesshomaru) would make Kagome his property, a really good idea. Poor Kagome, I would panic^^
ah, and sometimes you write, that she's switching to her native tongue. If you want I can translate this sentences for you ( if you want to use german ones). But it also seems to me, you already know many german words, right?=) (I'm german) Can't wait to read the next chapter =)
Missa (Chapter 3) - Sun 22 Feb 2009
::blink blink:: wow.....just.....wow
I am very intrigued about how Kagome wants to better understand the Japanese culture. The way she has been analyzing the culture has gotten me thinking... I really would like to know why Japanese culture is the way it is. Maybe Sesshoumaru could enlighten her? And why is Sesshoumaru attending the english tutoring sessions? This is a very differenty type of story... I've never read one that takes a closer look at the culture that kind of runs the society of a country. Keep up the good work and update soon. :P
I Like, I Lust, I Love!!Please Update Soon!!
You're setting things up and so far I like it, I'm hooked. I have no true expectations about the characters in themselves, as, as you said, this is an AU fic.I love slow build ups and it seems you like them too lol...
All I'm taking into account for the moment is your writing and storytelling skills, and, well, I'm far from disapointed. But well, knowing you (as an author), it was to be expected. XD
I'm intrigued. I look forward to your next update!

Annalena (Chapter 2) - Sun 15 Feb 2009
This story sounds interessting. I am from germany and I must say you something. We don't use "ficken" like you use "fuck". "Ficken" is another (dirty) word for sex in germany. And I don't think you mean this in your story. For the situation with Kagome you can say "Scheiße" or "Mist" in german.
...Did they? Scheiße. This was not good. ...
... Scheiße! Not good at all. ....
YAY! You're writing again!!! I've been hoping that you hadn't ditched the whole scene since finishing "Underground Railroad!" I am intrigued by the premise and love the beginning. I'll be keeping an eye on this, as I know how your stories tend to start heavy on the background - just one of the many things I LOVE about your writing!! :-) WELCOME BACK to chapter stories! ~~Wiccan~~
taixi (Chapter 1) - Sun 08 Feb 2009
I am curious about how Kagome is being portrayed as a foreigner, but it seems that both her parents are ethnically Japanese...which would suggest that her physical features are likewise purely Japanese. I'm not 100% sure re: the attitude re: foreigners in Japan, but I know in China (which is similar to the extent that both Japan and China have a majority of the population as a single ethnicity, at least in major cities) that a foreign-born Chinese person (one who looks Chinese) is basically expected to be able to speak fluently, and the degree of "foreign-ness" is thus lessened.
Thus, assuming attitudes are somewhat similar in Japan, it strikes me as odd that Shippo/the other students would be (1) surprised by her ability to speak fluent Japanese, and (2) surprised that she learned Japanese from her parents (since as noted above, it seems she would *look* fully Japanese - even more so since she's in the school uniform, which eliminates the differences in clothing style which might otherwise set her apart). I would think her classmates would be more impressed by her ability to speak German/why she ended up in (or started out in) Germany, rather than the other way around.
This is not intended to be overly critical, but you did ask for constructive criticism and this bit stood out for me. In terms of criticism as to how the story is progressing otherwise, it's rather hard to provide since (as you indicated) the first chapter is largely background info. and the actual plotline and personality of the major characters are still unclear.
I am a bit surprised at Kagome's reaction to Shippo and Inu (and to the fact that Shippo and Inu are buddies in the first place!) since the "in canon" Kagome is so open and accepting of new people, even if their motives are at first questionable. I wonder what they meant to ask her -- and I certainly hope Shippo, at the least, doesn't end up as a bad seed in this story (maybe it's just their gruff exterior...one can hope!)
Yukino-sama (Chapter 1) - Sun 08 Feb 2009
I was just wondering on Kagome's first day scenario. I think normally in Japan they have their 1st class as homeroom so the teacher can introduce new transfer students. The new student will be asked to write their name on the blackboard and then say something about themselves as an introduction. Also, Kagome being portrayed as a gaijin and a transfer student in your story would cause such a stir in the classroom as humans are notoriously curious. So I would be guessing that during lunch or freetime, Kagome will be bombarded with questions. Hmm...I don't think that they'll wait a week just to ask what Shippou was asking.
I like the beginning of this story so far, I can't wait to see what else happens.

Erica (Chapter 1) - Sun 08 Feb 2009

WhiteRose-Kurama (Chapter 1) - Sun 08 Feb 2009
It is an interesting idea for a fic. I really like it so far and I love how much thought you put into analyzing the cultural differences between germany and japan from Kagome's perspective. It's going to be an amazing fic so keep up the good work and update soon :P
Yamiyotenshi (Chapter 1) - Sun 08 Feb 2009
ok I'm cunfuzzled. Her mom and dad are jap but live in germany i get that. now how is she german? She would be a german native as she was born there but she should be of jap orgin unless she was adopted. besides that part good start on the story.
tone death (Chapter 1) - Sun 08 Feb 2009
