Kagome looked out over the lands, wondering how she'd gotten herself into this situation. Realizing far too late what the roll of "sister" to the leader of the pack would mean.

When they had come to her telling her that Kouga was on his death bed, much to her hanyou friend's -- for that's all he had turned out to be-- dismay, she had come without question.

The ritual they had done on her had changed her. She had thought it would be a way to send Kouga's soul to the beyond to be with the pack there, and while that was true it was also a way to instill the spirit of the wolf within her.

Her soul had been fractured for too long, it's missing piece never returned, the wolf had nested, settled, and conquered anything that had been human. Spiritual powers tainted with youkai, she had no match save the lord of the west himself.

She had fit the roll of reluctant leader well, and had single handedly made the wolves into one of the higher packs. She required more from them then any leader had ever before because she knew what would come in the future that lay ahead.

Still, this was going to be a test that even she was not sure she could handle, as she had only one match, only he could be her mate, a union that would pair the setting sun with the rising.

She had felt him coming, and hadn't needed it but she heard her beta's call, "Kagome-nee-sama! Sesshomaru-sama has arrived." The wind blew her hair as she turned to meet her fate.
