A Chance Lost
Picture information
Description:
Kagome met the demon Lord's chilling eyes, flinching at the emptiness of his golden gaze. The miko felt heart twist. He hadn't looked at her in that way for months. The unacknowledgment in his eyes had been something of the past for the last few months - he had only ever regarded her as he did now when they had first met and she had been the troublesome teenager screaming insults from behind InuYasha.
Something in her mind whispered that all hope was gone and if she tried to plead with the daiyoukai she would ultimately fail.
Kagome tried to ignore the voice in the back of her mind. Tears gathered in her burning eyes. The droplets caused the inu youkai's stunning visage to become a hazy blur before her. Her lips trembling, she repressed the sobs she wanted to cry.
"I love you." She managed to croak as her tears began to cascade.
Her words hung in the air as Sesshoumaru stared at her stolidly. The silence made her stomach twist and her heart hammered dangerously in her chest, threatening to tear out of it. She watched him then flick his hair behind his shoulder and turned on his heel.
"It is too late, miko." He replied dryly from over his shoulder.
Kagome stared at Sesshoumaru's back numbly. His monotonously spoken words made the fault lines in her heart break, the pieces shattering in her very chest. The tears pouring endlessly down her face, her clammy, shaking hands fisted at her sides as she tried to not throw herself at him and beg for another chance.
Her gut told her to grab her heart from the forest floor and walk away with the bit of dignity she had. But she couldn't. She had to try.
The priestess bit her bottom lip and whispered desperately, "Se-Sesshoumaru-"
He turned and glanced at her stonily from over his shoulder, pinning her with a contemptuous look.
"You are too late, miko. Go back." The daiyoukai stated icily.
The miko felt her face pale, the blood rushing from it as the horrid realization she had lost her chance with the demon Lord settled on her like a massive weight. The dog demon then turned away, his white-silver hair swishing through the air as he then silently walked away. She watched him go, praying that he'd look back.
"Sesshoumaru..." Kagome whispered as her hand reached out to stop him.
He ignored her cries and in a flash of white, disappeared from her and her life.
Kagome stood there silently. A gentle breeze blew and gently picked up her hair but she didn't feel the wind's breath. She stood in the midst of the field, shaking like a leaf caught in a storm, her dripping sapphire stare focused on where the daiyoukai had stood just a moment ago.
Her legs gave out and with a soft thud she fell on her knees in the long grass. Yet she continued to stare woodenly before her.
Every moment they had shared, from the good to the bad, echoed and replayed in her mind like a wheel of a movie. The last memory pierced her very soul like a barbed spike.
Her fingers brushed her lips numbly. Their last kiss - the memory of his lips made her stomach churn. As the memory replayed in her mind, the priestess lost the battle to stay strong and cried to the sky brokenly, her tears cascading as she grabbed at her head desperately, sobbing.

Yes I uploaded one like this but I redrew it and this version is WAAAAY better in my opinion. Kagome was on a slant in the other one and I didn't like her face... ugh. So here this is - a way better version imo. And to everyone wondering... YES THIS IS FROM A DEBT TO BE PAID IN A FUTURE CHAPTER.*le gasp*.

But I love the Kagome close up.
So kawaii!
...
Now I'm torn.
I don't know whether to love you or not.
You're such a jerk for putting me in this position.
