Kagome tried to suppress the vomit rising in her throat, her stomach churning at the gruesome sight of the slaughtered demon just a few feet away. Her eyes slid to the white form of the daiyoukai instead.
His back turned to her, the demon Lord flicked his sword with a graceful twist of his slender wrist, flinging the dead demon's blood off of the blade and onto the grass.
The miko watched him, conflicted. She had wanted to avoid the demon Lord. She was still upset about everything and considering earlier he had seemed less than pleased with her as well, she definitely had been trying her best to avoid a confrontation with him for as long as possible. But Fate was cruel and seemed to have had deliberately gone out of its way to force the pair of them together.
The priestess sweat dropped. She seriously was starting to think Fate was out to get her or was in the works with Death...
Shhhiiinnngg.
The slick sound of metal rubbing against wood drew her out of her musings. Sesshoumaru sheathed his ken, breaking the silence of the clearing. The girl winced and, gathering as much courage as possible, began what she knew was the beginning of her demise.
"Thank you... for saving me Sesshoumaru. If you hadn't shown up... I would have... He... Uh..." She stammered off pathetically.
Her face flushed red in shame and mortification. Her hands clenching at her sides, she swallowed over the lump forming in her throat. If the daiyoukai hadn't shown up in time, she would have been mated to the now dead demon at her feet.
She looked at Sesshoumaru sadly, her sapphire blue eyes reflecting her conflict. His white-silver hair shimmered in the moonlight. He continued to keep his back to her and did not respond. She bit her lip nervously.
Suddenly, the demon Lord slowly turned his head to the left, exposing only half his face over his shoulder. Kagome froze. A single golden eye peered at her, trapping her nervous blue eyes effortlessly. Her heart seemed to stop in fright.
The golden eye was slanted and, in a rare and very frightening way, was flashing dangerously. A slender brow slashed over it as it continued to narrow with evident anger. An icy chill crept up her spine as the inu youkai's fury echoed between their soul link.
"You fool." He murmured frostily, his deep voice dripping with venom.
Kagome blanched. She had only seen Sesshoumaru direct such an amount of anger towards two people; Naraku and InuYasha. And never did it bode well for either of the idiots. Sweating nervously, she trembled and tried to force a small, innocent smile on her face.
'Wow that is a really scary look... Is that a refusal of my appreciation?' She wondered inside nervously.
The demon Lord turned around with a languidness that was both beautiful and scary. He stared at her coldly, his face taut all the while his white form shone beneath the moon like he were a fallen angel of vengeance. His alabaster skin glowed as his white strands glistened. Kagome stared into the demon's pale, pointed face with a mixture of awe and fear. His angelic features were still set in their usual emotionless mask but there was a freezing stoniness to their beautiful contours that was absolutely terrifying and made the dog demon's fury visibly evident if a person looked close enough.
She gulped, her knees knocking together.
'I am seriously considering that I would have preferred dealing with being mated to that psychotic demon right now...'
In a blur of white, Sesshoumaru appeared before her. Kagome yelped and stumbled back. The feeling of his large claw ensnaring her arm in a steely grip and yanking her forward made her almost faint.
She was officially going to die.

So this is my second A Debt to be Paid comic. I am trying to challenge myself into drawing a scene from each chapter :). I hope everyone like my drawing style - I am seriously pleased with how much better I'm getting at faces and body positioning. I don't even have to use references any more ;u;!
For those wondering, this is the next chapter that will be released this weekend. Chapter 18 I believe!
