“Are you trying to kill yourself?” the demon Lord asked after stopping the hand holding the sharp knife before it cut on the miko’s wrist a second time.
Kagome could do nothing more than to stare at the person she never thought to see in these moments. She thought that someone could find her…maybe Sango or Inuyasha…but never him.
“Do you think losing your life because of the half-breed’s rejection is worth it?” the Taiyoukai went on with his calm and cold voice. “Hn, perhaps…losing an arm.” After he said that he pushed Kagome’s hand towards the injured one, pressing the edge of the knife into her skin painfully.
“No! Stop!” cried Kagome in alarm.
He stopped and glanced down at her, “Surely an arm is nothing…compared to losing one’s life, or, are you scare of losing an arm? Of course, you will not be able to hold a bow with one arm, making you useless for your party, but if we are honest…you wouldn’t be able to draw a bow death either…Unless you are revived as clay and dirt.”
Kagome shivered at his cold voice and tried to pull away but Sesshomaru wasn’t allowing her. Fearing he would cut her hand off for real she dropped the knife.
“Do you think I can’t cut your arm off with my claws” he asked while putting pressure on the thin wrist making the young miko cry out. He reveled in the way her heartbeat increased frantically, the same was a rabbit’s did when it realized it was being hunted, “If you are so willing to die…at least find an honorable way to,” he spat and released her abruptly making her fall to the floor. He stared at her shivering form for a few moments before turning away, “If you are so eager to die, then join the Army of the West and die protecting the lands and humans. That is an honorable way to die.”
After that, he left her. Kagome stared at his retreating form for long moment but then she broke down in tears. What had she been thinking?!
