i like it. Try using the smudge tool in PS its very helpful. Most of us kinda cheat, we'll use a darker color for the base, similar to how you did your own, and then add just highlights to give it boost. if you want in dividual hairs to show, try giving her a highlight and then using the smudge tool to pull the color out so you get your individual hairs. I don't do this, b/c i'm lazy... and a lazy r0o is an okay r0o ^_^ I'm a big fan of block coloring as well. and importing texture into the work. I love how you did the fur on Sess, this reminds me of vecter work. r0o's not good at that. but i like this.
