“The time has come,” a man with demon ears atop his head said. He was obviously youkai, but there was also much human in him.
The pale, black haired woman remained silent. Her hand instinctively came to rest on her stomach where the Shikon Jewel, her burden and greatest asset against the Kami, rested. It shone a bright pink and its light ran a bright path down her vest.
“We should accept their offer,” the man with long silver hair at her side pressed anxiously, “Youkai are strong.”
“They are beasts,” the woman growled angrily and turned to the man wearing his full armor, “Except you…Inuyasha. You are different, warm.”
The half man’s shoulders slumped and he scowled. “You lie,” he said but he knew she, Kagome, spoke the truth for she would have killed him if she believed otherwise. Knowing he was always in her good graces he returned to the topic from before, “My brother would strengthen your army.”
“He’s full-fledged youkai…and a Taiyoukai at that,” Kagome said and turned away from Inuyasha and glanced up at the sky where the final war with the Gods would take place. “They can’t be trusted. They seek power and as such they could be tempted by the Kami…and they would betray us.”
Inuyasha shook his head slowly, his golden eyes sorrowful, “Not my brother.”
Kagome glanced back at her faithful companion strangely and sighed. She was aware they were facing a suicidal battle…but she had the Shikon Jewel…they could make it. However…the alliance with the youkai was alluring, it would grant them power and numbers, but it could also turn out to be the worse mistake ever. If this war was suicidal…if youkai turned against them…it would undoubtedly be a massacre, a total wipe out.
“Think about it…” suggested the half-man half-demon before walking forward and past her to the Holy Mountains.
She watched him for a few moments and after a last glance to the darkening clouds, she followed.
