The Power Within Her by xoMIA ;)

Chapter 1

She looked off into the distance as her hair whipped around her in the breeze. She sat in a boat, being taken to only they knew where. He had been right. They did come for her. There was no choice in it. There was no despair in her, it was an ‘honor’ apparently. She rolled her eyes thinking of the way they all described it.

“They only take the most powerful females.” His deep voice had rumbled when she demanded an explanation to his odd outburst. “It is an honor to be chosen. You cannot refuse.”

She audibly huffed at the memory. Those around her let their eyes gaze upon her briefly before looking back into the abyss in front of them. They could see she was lost in her thoughts, of what they had no clue. She had not even tried to refuse to come with them, and there was no hostility coming from her. One shrugged an arm and all seemed to dismiss it. Kagome had not even noticed any exchange between them. She was still consumed with trying to figure out what emotions had flickered through him.

‘Was he angry I was leaving? Disappointed? I just can’t tell. He didn’t seem very happy.’ She thought to herself as a sigh escaped her mouth. She didn’t mean to dwell on it so much, but she just couldn’t understand why he was so unhappy at the prospect of her leaving. Or did it even have anything to do with that? She shook her head and slapped her hand to her forehead, causing all around her to look at her once again. One did speak up this time though.

“Miko.” A light voice came from over her shoulder. She turned to see the only one without a hood covering her. Her dark blue hair danced around her face in beautiful waves, almost as if the beautiful locks were the water themselves. “I do not know what causes you such anguish, but I suggest you clear it from your mind. We are almost there.” She nodded her head forward at something.

Kagome turned to see a huge piece of land that looked so majestic she thought it had come from a dream. She hadn’t even heard the awe filled gasp that left her mouth. How did no one know about this? Waterfalls surrounded them as they went onto a river that brought them inland again, the foliage around them seemed vast, never ending. She couldn’t even tell what was connected to what, or where it was coming from. It was overgrown, but was the most beautiful place she had ever seen. Figures started appearing at the water’s edge as they approached a small dock. The woman with the blue hair climbed out of the boat first, offering her hand out to Kagome to take. She led her down the dock and onto a path; some followed and some stayed behind to pull up the small boat they had travelled on.

She could hear whispers all around her as they walked deeper into the woods, although they were soon drowned out by the sound of the rushing waters of the falls all around them. Some were small and just trickled water down them, some were massive and she was surprised she had never heard of them before. The roar of the massive ones was almost deafening if you listened closely to it, but if you focused on something else it was such a serene background noise, barely noticeable at all. What was this strange place? Her eyes looked to the woman who had hair that reminded her so much of the ocean. The woman looked back and gave Kagome a small smile, tightening her grip on Kagome’s hand slightly to convey that it was alright.

She looked ahead once more, feeling a bit more calm, only to see a huge structure in front of them. It looked like a deconstructed castle, spread out far. The pieces of it were a beautiful white with dark brown roofs and decorations. There were ponds everywhere, a huge arc in the middle, cleared out land that must be used for training. Her eyes tried to wander everywhere, but there was too much to see and take in as they walked further into the structure. Most of the buildings seemed to be the boarder of the castle, while there were only a few buildings on inside, although they were quite large with many levels. Mostly it was a serene landscape. Her anxiety and enthusiasm seemed to be warring inside of her with the tranquility that surrounded her. She let out a breathy sigh as she started to finally relax to the situation, a small smile pulling at her lips.

It was quickly pushed away as a figure with a massive aura headed straight for her.

A/N: I know it's short, but hopefully the next chapter will be longer. I really just wanted to finally get this out and into writing. I've been thinking about it for awhile. Sesshomaru himself will probably not be in this for a few chapters, but she will be thinking of him. Please let me know what you think! I will try to have the second chapter up soon, but my surgery is coming up next week so we'll just see. Hope you enjoyed!!
