You're in The Dog House Now

Sesshōmaru and Kagome stood in front of their bathtub, both quiet as they listened to the sound of the water softly dripping out of the tap. The restroom lights were on and the candles that Kagome used for relaxation were lit but Kagome was as dry as the Gobi Desert. Sesshōmaru, on the other hand, had a towel wrapped around his waist and a face rag draped around his shoulders to keep his rapidly cooling hair from making him uncomfortable and waited for Kagome to say something. He was sure she'd yell at him and he couldn't say that she'd be wrong to do so; while Kagome had gone out to lunch with Sango, he had seen and taken the opportunity to take a relaxing soak in the tub and prepared the area like he had seen Kagome do many times in the past. He had taken her tealight candles out of their hiding place in the cabinet next to their sink, lit them, and placed them around the spacious room. Next, he had filled the tub with warm water and allowed the heat to warm up the room. Grabbing Kagome's fabric pillow, he placed it on the end opposite of the faucet and connected his phone to the Bluetooth speakers so he could play Nature Sounds Piano Ballet Songs by Ballet Dance Jazz J. Company. Zen Garden 4/4 (Danse) was first on the list and immediately added to the atmosphere. Taking Kagome's lavender essential oil, he added a few drops to water. Now, with fluffy towels ready nearby, he stepped into the tub with another of Kagome's items: her signed copy of The Deathly Hallows. Sesshōmaru was very fond of the series and had taken Kagome to the book signing back in October. After settling into the tub, he started reading and even though the content in the book was far from relaxing, he liked that there where no external distractions and read on in peace.

He woke with a start to bright lights and Kagome standing over him looking distraught. He sat up quickly, looked at her, and tried to sort his disoriented thoughts. Belatedly, he welcomed her home and furrowed his brows when she squinted at him.

"What have you done, Sesshōmaru?" she asked with a low voice. "Do you know what you just did?" she continued to ask. Sesshōmaru looked around the room and noted that nothing was out of place. Aside from the now ruined atmosphere, everything was right as he left it. "You dropped my signed copy of The Deathly Hallows into the water, that's what!" Kagome motioned to the book that was now drifting innocently around Sesshōmaru's legs.

He looked down.

Oh.

Now the pieces were connecting in his mind and he held back a groan. Closing his eyes, he sighed heavily and then looked at his wife who had her eyes glued on the book. "I'll get you another one, Kagome," Sesshōmaru stated as he got out of the tub and proceeded to dry himself off.

"That was a signed, first edition hard copy, Sesshōmaru. You can't just buy another and show up on the author's doorstep asking her to sign it," Kagome pinched the bridge of her nose and walked out of the room leaving a regretful Sesshōmaru behind.

Dried and fully clothed, Sesshōmaru walked into their home office to see Kagome concentrating on the monitor in front of her. Silently he walked up to her and saw that she was looking for a replacement for her book. As they waited for the page to load, he held his breath and hoped that someone had a copy and was willing to part with it. Lucky for them, there was.

Kagome slammed her head on the table and let out a loud curse. "$2,400! And a $15.50 shipping fee!" she wailed.

Sesshōmaru walked back out of the room with his mind set on one thing: buying that book for his wife. Their anniversary was coming up soon, anyways.
