He was stroking her hair.  Something so simple.  She couldn’t remember the last time it had been so peaceful.  Rin was studying her books, Jaken was tending to Ah-Un, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky to be seen.  No enemies, no ominous auras, no raging demons.

Peace.

Kagome turned and brushed a kiss across her mate’s jaw line, and lovingly accepted when he turned and returned that kiss, sweetly, his lips hovering over hers lightly afterwards, captive sunshine glimmering gently in his gilded eyes.  She didn’t regret this.  Not for a minute.

This, her long awaited, beautiful paradise.
