Partners In Crime
It was an ordinary day in the Le Jean's Jewels. Though business was slightly slower than usual, there was nothing different. Mayabellea showed up for work as she always does. Her auburn hair framed her slightly tanned skin. Her finely manicured nails drummed thoughtfully against the glass counter. She smiles as a familiar face walks up to her. She raises a single eyebrow with a small knowing smile on her face. The man blushes slightly and clears his throat.
"Hello May." The man says as he tries to hide his blush. Mayabellea grins and chuckles.
"Sooo Aiko, what are you buying? Or, rather, should I say, who are you buying it for?" Mayabellea asks with a sly grin on her lips. Aiko gulps and stuttters. Mayabellea just laughs. "Chill chill Aiko. Amy told me you two are engaged now. so, what are you buying her?" Aiko sighs in relief and shows her the necklace. The chain is white gold, simple yet elegant. Upon the necklace, an infintity sign within a heart. It has small dimonds on it with the heart being made out of a ruby. Mayabellea smiles. She rings it up for him.
"$7,557.99." Matabellea says. Aiko hands over the money and watches Mayabellea wrap the necklace up. "Aiko! Tell me what Amy says!" She calls out to him as he scurries out the store. Two more people come in. A man and a woman. She sees them holding hands and smiles. They walk to a far corner of the shop.
The last customer besides the two newcomers leaves. The man looks the woman in her eyes. She nods with a glint in her dull blackish-brown eyes. They wait a while before going up to the woman by the cash register. She looks up and smiles at them. "What can I do for you two?" She asks kindly with warmth in her greenish-brown eyes.
"Well, you can start off by handing the money over to us." The man says in a tenor. She blinks before giggling.
"That's a good joke!" Mayabellea says as she chuckles.
"It's not a joke." The woman says in a whimsical voice. Mayabellea hears a click and freezes. She knows that sound anywhere. She should considering where she grew up. It was the sound of a gun being taken off of saftey and cocked. She looks up with wide eyes. She whimpers and opens the register. She hands them all of the money in the register. The woman walks backwards with her gun trained on her with no emotion in her eyes. When they disappear behind the door and into the crowd outside, she collapses onto the counter. Mayabellea places her hand on her racing heart.
She grabs the phone and shakily dials 911. "911, what is your emergency?" The voice of a female 911 operator asks.
"T-th-the stor..the store I work in was just robbed." Mayabellea manages to say as she shakes in fear. They had her at gun point. They could have killed her!
"What is your location ma'am?" Mayabellea gives the operator the address.
"The police will be right there ma'am. Don't worry." With that Mayabellea says thank you and hangs up. She falls onto the floor trembling in freight. By the time the police get there, which took about ten minutes, Mayabellea is a crying wreck.
It takes the police a while but they manage to get her to stop shaking and actually be able to speak without breaking down again. "Ma'am, what did the culprit or culprits look like?"
"There was two of them. A man and a woman. They appeared to be a couple but tat could have just been a ploy for me to think they were just looking for an engagement ring or something. The man was not very tall, about 5'5 or so. He was muscular, to the point you could see his biceps through his suit. He has purple eyes and has an olive skin tone. His hair is short and brown. It was cut so that it was not shaggy, you know like the....um...how do I say this? Um...let me thik for a second. Um...his hair was short enough you could see his neck. The woman, she was shorter. about 4'11 or possibly 5'0. She had blonde hair with a multitude of colors in it. Blue, black, silver, purple, red, and so on. She had blackish eyes. She is tanner than her companion but not by much. She looked to have a slightly solid build to her." The officers nod as they scribble down everything she was saying.
"Anything else?"
"The woman pointed a gun at me. She seemed to know what she was doing with it.... Almost like she was a trained killer or something...." Mayabellea trails off.
"Okay. Thank you for the report. We will do everything in our power to apprehend the culprits. Have a nice day ma'am." The officer says as he and his companion leaves.
