Kagome sat on the lip of the Bone Eater’s well staring up at the blue sky. Tears were running down her pale cheeks. She couldn’t believe InuYasha. Not even 3 hours ago he had told her that he loved her. He also said that they would mate as soon as they put Kikyo to rest. She had believed it too like a naïve little girl. He left Kaede’s hut a minute later and was gone for almost two full hours. Kagome got worried and went out looking for him. She saw Kikyo’s soul collectors and she automatically thought InuYasha was putting her to rest like he said would just hours before. Her heart literally shattered as she neared them. InuYasha was kissing down Kikyo’s neck and she was grinding against him with her head thrown back in pleasure. Kagome didn’t make a sound as she ran from them. So here she was now crying as the memories went through her mind again. She closed her as they replayed again. Kagome was so broken and defeated as she softly began to sob. She didn’t want this pain, she just wanted someone to love her. At that very moment in time she really just wanted her mother.
“My child,” Kagome heard a voice whisper.
“Kagome,” She heard her name being called and opened her eyes. She looked around for the source but didn’t find one. She waited with her breath held.
“Into the well Kagome,” It said again. Kagome waited a second before jumping into the well. She couldn’t tell why she jumped. The voice didn’t sound evil or that it had ill intentions. It felt like a mother’s voice, it felt safe.
The familiar light surrounded Kagome but instead of her family shrine she was in a large meadow. The grass reached Kagome about mid knee and wild flowers were in patches across the meadow.
“Kagome,” Kagome heard behind her. She turned around and saw her mother, but it wasn’t exactly her mother. The woman in front of her was an Inu-yokai.
“Momma?” Kagome asked. The woman nodded.
“Yes my child, now let us sit, I have much to discuss but not a lot of time,” Midori said. Kagome nodded and where the meadow once was now was a hut with a table. Kagome sat at the table and waited for her mother to begin.
“My child you are not from the future. Your place is here. Your father put us in the well when our lands were in peril. He sealed both your and Souta’s power and memory so you could have a somewhat normal life. We both agreed it was time to return so you could return to your intended and regain your status,” Midori concluded.
“My status?” Kagome asked confused. Midori nodded.
“Yes your father is the Lord of the Southern Lands,” Kagome nodded.
“And my intended?” Kagome asked. He mother sighed.
“You might not like this, for he did not know you were his intended, but Lord Sesshomaru is your beloved,” Midori said. Kagome’s jaw dropped. She was not upset that Sesshomaru was her intended. She was more surprised on who it was.
“You mating had started as a betrothal, an alliance between the South and West,” Midori said watching her daughter.
“So there is no love?” Kagome asked slightly disappointed. Midori smiled.
“Oh my child you couldn’t be more wrong, it started as a betrothal but it is as real of a love as any, when you get your memories back you will see he is currently not the demon you knew him as,” Midori said. Kagome nodded absorbing all the information.
“Are you ready to begin?” Midori asked her daughter. Kagome nodded and stood.
“What do I need to do?” Kagome asked. Her mother had her remove all clothing from the top half of her body and stood behind her. Midori began drawing patterns on Kagome’s back. When Midori was finished the patterns began to burn. The pain intensified just as a light engulfed Kagome. What felt like hours, in reality was a mere few seconds, the pain and light vanished. Kagome’s previous outfit, jeans and a tee shirt she had long ago forgone her school uniform, was now a black and blue hamaka and hoari. Her obi was light blue and white. Her hair was now the blackest black and reached mid-thigh. Her once dark brown eyes were deep blue. On her cheeks were two blue stripes and in the middle of her forehead was a blue crescent moon with a black star. A full length mirror appeared in front of Kagome and she gasped at her reflection.
“Now my child go back to Edo and collect your pack, your father and the rest of us are waiting for you at the castle,” Midori said. Kagome nodded and walked over to the well that had appeared in the hut. She climbed in and the familiar light engulfed her. She jumped out of the well with practice ease. She took a deep breath and could immediately smell the village of Edo. She could smell the villagers and she could distinctly tell each of her adopted family. She took in one more breath and regretted it immediately. The stench of death, dirt, old blood, and what hurt the old Kagome, drying semen wafted to her nose. Kagome pushed old feelings aside and made her way down to the village. Half way down the hill to Edo her little tachi came rushing out to meet her with weapons raised. Kagome smiled sweetly at Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Kirara. No one said anything for a second, Sango opened her mouth to say something when InuYasha burst through the trees with Kikyo on his back. As soon as they came forth Kagome constructed a sound proof barrier around them.
“Who are you Yokai?” Sango demanded. Kagome smiled at her best friend and sister. Shippo smelled the air. He could tell his adoptive mother was around somewhere close but couldn’t see her.
“Who I tell you I am you won’t believe,” Kagome replied. Sango looked confused.
“My name is Princess Kagome of the Southern Lands, I am exactly the same person whom you are thinking of that I share a name with, Sango,” Kagome replied. The group stared in shock. They had forgotten InuYasha altogether. Though he had not forgotten about them. He tried using red tetsaiga to break the barrier but to no avail. Shippo smelled the air once more before running to the woman in front of him.
“Okaa-san!” Shippo cried out as he jumped into her embrace.
“Hello my kit,” Kagome said softly running her hand through his hair.
“I’ve missed you! You have been gone for so long!” Shippo cried out tears pouring down his face.
“How long have I been gone?” Kagome asked looking up at Sango and Miroku.
“6 Months,” Miroku whispered. Kagome’s jaw dropped.
“I am so sorry kit, let us go to my home so you can meet your Sobosan and your Sofusan,” Kagome said. Shippo nodded. Kagome gathered her demon cloud under her.
“Are you guys coming as well?” Kagome asked hoping they would say yes.
“Of course Onesan!” Sango said. Kirara transformed and both Sango and Miroku hopped on her back. They took off, Kagome’s speed matching Kirara’s. When they were far enough away Kagome let InuYasha out of the bubble. They stopped for lunch in the area between the Western Lands and the Southern Lands. It was no man’s land. Kagome had felt a strong aura just as she finished her lunch. Without a word Kagome got up and ran to it. There in the clearing was Sesshomaru and his pack. Rin was picking flowers and Jaken was running after her. She entered the clearing and her breath caught. Her intended was leaning against the base of a tree that allowed Rin to be in his line of sight. Kagome released her aura and scent and Sesshomaru was up in a second.
“Bitch why do you have the scent of this one’s intended?” Sesshomaru asked glaring at the female that had walked into the clearing.
“Oh Koibito, don’t tell me you have forgotten what I looked like?” Kagome said sweetly. Sesshomaru looked at her before he fell to his knees. Kagome was over there in an instant a pale hand on his cheek.
“Hello Koibito, I have missed you so,” Kagome said. Sesshomaru couldn’t handle it anymore and pulled her face to his. The kiss was anything but sweet but it sated his beast.
“Where have you been Koi?” Sesshomaru asked when he pulled away.
“I will tell you when my tachi gets here,” Kagome said. Sesshomaru nodded and stood. His pack was still staring in awe that a single women brought their Lord to his knees. Kagome looked up at Sesshomaru with pleading eyes and he knew what she wanted. He nodded and she jumped up and sat on his shoulder.
“This is literally the best spot Koibito,” Kagome said with a giggle running her fingers through his hair. Her tachi burst through the trees a second later.
“I am sorry I ran like I did, you must understand I have not seen my intended properly in a few hundred years,” Kagome said caressing Sesshomaru’s head.
“Properly koi?” Sesshomaru asked.
“Hai, do you remember the last time you saw me? There was a big battle between the east and the south. My father was afraid for us so he sent myself my brother mother and grandfather into the bone eater’s well but not before locking away mine and Souta’s beast and memories. We lived five hundred years in the future and it stayed that way until I was pulled back through the well. I travelled with InuYasha having no memory of my time here or my intended that was here somewhere,” Kagome paused.
“You had tried to kill me on multiple occasions,” Kagome whispered. Sesshomaru remembered the wench his half-brother travelled with. He remembered she smelled a lot like his missing intended.
“Kagome-sama! Does that mean you will be this Rin’s Okaa-san?” Rin asked excitedly. Kagome smiled.
“I would love to be your Okaa-san,” Kagome said jumping down from Sesshomaru’s shoulder. She scoped Rin up. Shippo ran to his Okaa-san and joined the little hug going on.
“Now let us go to the Southern castle so you both can meet you Sobosan and Sofusan, as well as your Ojisan,” Kagome said. Both nodded eagerly. Kagome giggled.
