Sweet Peas and Beginnings

Kagome smiled as she walked into the hospital room.  She had brought her grandfather some more flowers.  He was so proud of her for graduating despite her father dying last year.  It was very tough and without her 'gramps' she most likely wouldn't have made it through.  He wanted to come to her graduation but he was too frail and sick.  She sighed a little before arranging the flowers in a vase and kissing his cheek.

"What brings you here Kagome?"

"I just wished to see you."  She said and although the love in her voice was true there was something she was hiding.

"I know what is going on Kagome."  Her grandfather said with a kindly smile on his face, it almost appeared that he was laughing at his grandaughter.

"You do!?"  She sounded paniced.

"You shouldn't be nervous or ashamed dear.  You graduated, your going to look at colleges.  You should be happy!  I'm so proud of you, this isn't a goodbye, this is just the beginning."  He said as he caught her in his arms as she sobbed on his chest.  "We are all proud of you darling Kagome.  Go and make something of yourself."  He said and watched as she left the room.  His gaze went to just outside of the window.

"Do you think she'll leave?"

"She doesn't have any other choice.  She wants to go, She's just reluctant to leave me here."

"Let us hope for both of your sakes that she leaves."  There was a swift sound of what appeared to be the owner of the voice jumping away.
