Ok so enjoy the story

Chapter One

She stared down at the letter with wide eyes. It was common knowledge that this was an occurrence that happened to one in 2000 people, but she never imagined that she was one of those people. She had thought that she was all alone in the world, that she had no family, at least non that wanted her. After growing up in the orphanage her entire 15 years of  life, she had long gave up the hopes that one day her parents that had gave her away would come back for her. Or that she would be adopted into a family that would love her as there own. She had thought of herself as a normal orphan, that would one day age out of the system. And now here she was, reading this letter, unable to put her thoughts together.

Dear Kagome Nakayama

You have been summoned to the 'School of Destiny'. There you will learn of your true heritage, and determine your future. You will also be trained to the highest quality of knowlege and fitness. You are to head to your local Grand building, where  you will complete your enrollment, for the new school year. Attending the school is not optional, if you fail to make your appointment, reinforcements will assure that your enrollment is completed, and that you are settled in school before orientation.

At the Grand building all information of your designation will be provided. We look foreword to your arrival

Sincerley Dean Takahashi

She just stared down at the letter, blinking rapidly with mixed thoughts. Everyone knew what this meant. The school was extremely new, construction was only completed during the summer. There were rumors about this school, that it was only for prestigious students, which had her questioning her acceptance. She never applied, nor was she a 'prestigious' student. She was pretty average to say the least. This school was not even in her district. There was only three high schools in her district, which she had applied for all three, just to be on the safe side. The worst thing about it, was that if it was not in her district, then that mean she had to go beyond the safety of the walls. Never in her life had she ever even considered going beyond the wall, to cross different districts, that was just too dangerous. She already felt sorry for those who jobs required them to travel in the danger zones.

Ten Minutes Earlier

The cool wind felt well against her skin as it danced by. Kagome was sitting in the Manu Nest hanging outside in the back yard of the orphanage, reading a romance novel. It was a nice to experience finally getting some refreshing whether after all the extremly hot days the summer had brought.

"Kagome-chan" came a small voice

Kagome looked up to see the little girl, who was ten or eleven run up to her, but lost her balance halfway and fell face down into the grass.

Shocked Kagome arised from the hanging chair, and rushed over to the fallen girl

"Maki are you ok?" she asked, helping the young girl up.

Maki was a frail little thing. She looked as if she hardly ate even though it was opposite from the truth. She was one girl that lived in the orpahage with Kagome.

Maki laughed nervously as she dust the dirt off her clothes "i'm ok Kagome-chan" then her eyes widen like a soucer "oh, I almost forgot" she reached in her back pocket and took out a white envolope with sakura bloosoms and handed it to Kagome the envolope that was clutched in her hand "this came for you in the mail"

"Thank You"  with that Maki took off back into the house.

Sakura bloosom pedels decorated the plain white envolope with no return address. That striked her as odd. Without a second thought, Kagome tore off the side, and slid out the expensive peace of paper.

Present

Quietly Kagome made her way to her room, that she shared with 12 other girls hoping to seek advice from her best friend Ayami. When she entered the large room, that lined up six beds across on each side, she was surprised to see Ayami sitting at the windowsill reading a letter that looked oddly similar to hers.

"You've been accepted too"?

Ayami head snapped upon hearing Kagome's voice, her eyes matching how Kagome's was when she read her letter. "you too"?

Kagome nodded "crazy huh"

"but, i didn't-"

"You didn't apply either"?

"neither did you"? Kagome shook her head no "then-"

"I know"

Both girls shared the same thought, How? and why?

District 14

Swiftly making his way through the crowed, keeping his black hooded cloak as low as possible, Sessomaru made sure not to be seen by any of his mothers minions. No one was going to stop him this time. He even went so far as to tie his long black hair into a low bun, just so it was harder for him to be detected.

Finally he reached the Grand building, and held in his sigh of relief. There was no time to celebrate now, not until he could make it inside the gates. His mother did not have any control in that territory.

The gruff looking guard stared him up and down. "what is it boy"?

Oh how he detests being called that. This man really had no sense of respect. He was not a 'boy' but a man, already 19 and already ready to perform his duties.

"This Sesshomaru request an audience with your commander" Sesshomaru said simply.

Everyone knew that the commander was in charge of letting you into the army, or reject you all together.

"Sesshomaru heh"? the man looked at his clip board then back at Sesshomaru "YA mean the second lieutenant. Right on in" with that he waived his hands, a signal for the gates to be open.

Though Sesshomaru was curious why they would change the person in charge, he did not question it. He had finally gained access, and there was nothing his mother could do about it.

As Sesshomaru passed the gate, he took in his surroundings. He had never actually seen this side of the gate before. He could see what he guess was new recruits training martial arts.

As he entered the building, he saw people scurrying every which way doing there designated work. It reminded him of a regular business building, which surprised him since he always imagined that it would be somewhat different.

He walked over to the front desk, where a woman who looked like she was wary of him, faked a smile.

"how may i help you?" he could tell she was feeling uneasy. It may have had something to do with him wearing the hooded cloak. He took off the hood, for courtesy and her face brightened up instantly.

Typical he sighed inwardly. He was not an idiot, he knew how his looks effected most females he came across. "Is the second lieutenant available?" he asked simply.

The woman typed something in her computer before looking back at him "Name"

"Sesshomaru Kotoku"

"As in Kotoku's enterprise?" her voice becoming suductive.

It annoyed him to no end when women flocked at him because of his looks, expecially his status. Remaining silent he gave her a hard look which caused her to cringe.

She typed something again, "ah yes, go up the elevator" she pointed to the direction that the elevator was in "and take it to the twelfth floor"

Sesshomaru nodded then walked away. Finally, he was one step closer to his goal. He had always thought that he was needed beyond the safeties to the wall, that his destiny was to defend the people, like the great solders that fought everyday for the freedom of its people.

He pushed the elevator button and waited at it to come down.

He would had enlisted in the army as soon as he turned 18 but his mother did everything in her power to stop him. When he tried escaping, her hitch men only captured him somehow.

The elevator door opened, and two men wearing green army suits walked out before he stepped in, leaving him the only one inside.

The growing feeling that he was destined for so much more, only grew every year. His mother wanted him to be a normal aristocrat, and stay away from battle, but he just could not. She wanted him to 'take over the family business' she would always say. But the buisness world just wasn't for him.

The elevator doors closed, and he pressed the number 12 button. Finally sighing with relief, he undid the bun from his head, letting his midnight black hair fall gracefully down his back. It reached just passed his butt. He knew he would have to cut it when he joined the army, which was completely ok with him. The only reason he let it grow out, was because his mother threw a fit every time he brought up the speculation.

The elevator stopped at the 12 floor and Sesshomaru stepped out. He was surprised to see that the entire twelfth floor as an office. A relatively large office at that.

A middle aged man, who looked to be in his early forties, who wore a similar uniform to the guys who had previously existed the elevator, sat at a desk ravaging through some papers.

"Have a seat" the man said without looking up.

Sesshomaru sat down in the seat on the other side of the desk, and remained quiet.

"Name"

"Sesshomaru Kotoku"

The man turned his spin chair around to ravish through the file cabinet behind him before pulling out a file.

"Sesshomaru Kotoku hmm, that was pretty quick"

"excuse me"

"we just sent out the letters today. Deadlines not until next week"

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow "letter"?

The man gave him a blank stare before speaking again "did you not receive your school acceptance letter? that is why your here is not it?"

School? no no no "this Sesshomaru wants to join the army"

The man signed rubbing the back of his neck "sorry son, but that's not happening"

Who is he to deny this Sesshomaru without a second thought Sesshomaru thought angrily, calmly he said " and why may I ask is that"?

"You've been accepted to the 'School of Destiny', it's not an option...all acceptance are required to attend"

"Look, I do not know if my mother sighed me up for some college, but that has nothing to do wit-"

"no one signed you up, you were chosen" the second lieutenant sighed as he stood up and walked over to Sesshomaru's side. "for a reason at that"

Sesshomaru glared at the man who was now pacing "and what pray tell is that reason?"

The man stopped his pacing and looked at Sesshomaru "that my boy, you'll soon find out"

Sesshomaru growled inwardly, did this guy really think he of all people would agree with something without being fully explained?

Sesshomaru stood up and begin to head toward the elevator "this Sesshomaru have no time for such nonsense, if you will not allow him to partake of the battles, he shall find another way"

"whoever said I won't allow you?" That stopped Sesshomaru in his tracks. Interested, he slowly turned back to face the second lieutenant, raising an eyebrow showing he was listening. "this is no ordinary school Kotoku. If you want to be out there in the fight, then I suggest you go to this school"

"what kind of school is this exactly?

"just your average high school"

It took every bone in his body not to lose his composure "I graduated high school a year ago, If anything i should be attending college"

"High school. College. Same difference. The point is, this is a school you want to attend" The man grinned "shall we get you registered?"

Sesshomaru stayed quiet for a minute as he contemplated "hn"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Grand building, every district has one. It's the building that handles everything that has to do with the outside world. If mail was being sent to and from different districts, it is first sent to the Grand building. If one would have to travel outside the district they go to the Grand building.

The Grand building was established back in 1988 after the Naraku war. The walls were put up for protection, and each district was given a main or Grand building. District 545 was their home.

Kagome and Ayami stood in front of the big five story building. Well it was the biggest building in 545 district, who had a population of 23,000.

Kagome looked at Ayami who was besides her "you're ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be"

Both girls linked arms as they made their way to the entrance of the building. All entrance was heavily guarded 24/7. The two guards stood in front of the iron clad gate.

The two men smiled brightly as Kagome and Ayami approached, they wore regular clothes like any other normal citizens, maybe because they were normal citizens in a way. Everyone knew everyone in this district, or at least heard of one another, since it was such a small community.

"Good Morning Mr.Ueno, Mr.Shibata" the girls greeted

"Morning" greeted Mr. Ueno, a strong looking middle aged man, who stood about 5'9, tall compared to the short height of 5'2 of the girls.

"good day it is" replied Mr. Shibata who was a short man of 5'4 with a pot belly.

"we're here to register for school" Ayumi said brightly, even though Kagome knew it was just for show. Both girls shared the same feeling of not ever wanting to go beyond the walls.

"yea, we saw your names on the list" Mr. Shibata nodded "beyond the district huh? brave"

"Don't scare the girls Shibata" Mr. Ueno whispered harshly

Mr. Shibata bit his tongue indicating silence.

The girls laughed nervously as the gates opened. Tightening there arms around each other they preceded to enter the building.

As soon as they entered they saw a short line at a door that looked like it led to an office. After asking the receptionist they found out that that was the line for those who had to register for the school.

Both the girls went to the back of the line, which was only two people ahead of them. One was an older girl, who they all knew as the hairdresser's daughter Yura. Another was Jakotsu, who was also older then the girls. Though they did not know him personally, and thought him a very attractive male, everyone in town knows Jakotsu swing for the same team.

"This better not take too long" Yura mumbled loudly "I have things to do and people to see"

"More like people to screw" Jakotsu remarked.

Yura glared at him, and was about to remark when the door opened, and a guy the girls knew all too well came out.

"Kagome" he said when his eyes met hers

"Hey Hojo"

"not like I'm not here either" Ayumi mumbled so low that only Kagome could here her.

"Your going to the knew school as well? This has too be destiny. Pun attended"

Kagome laughed uncomfortably "yea"

"well I have to go, we have to meet up later"

"sure"

With that he left. Kagome looked at Ayumi apologetically. Ayumi had had a crush on Hojo since forever, but he always only had eyes for Kagome. Not that she was interested, she just hoped that one day he would get the constant rejection as a permanent No, and to  finally see Ayumi in that light.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It took about an hour before it was Kagome's turn. Ayumi had already completed her registration, and was now waiting for Kagome.

Kagome sat down in front of the desk, and the young women who looked to be in her late twenties began asking questions such as "date of birth" to "grade point average" generally simple questions she figured they should have already had the answers to.

After the series of questions, the woman asked to see her hand. Warily Kagome did so. The woman,  pricked her finger, just like they did in the doctors office to draw blood. Then she took blood from Kagome's arm. What kind of school is this? Kagome wondered, as she received an entire physical.

"Done" the woman finally said

"ok"

"Can you explain why I've been accepted a school i never applied for?"

"you were chosen" she said simply "everything will be explained at orientation.

"but-"

"now" she interrupted " next week you are to go to the transportation area with all your stuff packed. There you will be taken to your designation using the underground pod cars. You will have numerous stops to other districts, to pick up other schoolmates. On reaching your designation, you will be settled in your dorms, and attend your orientation afterwards. Any questions?"

Kagome shook her head, the woman held out her hand to shake Kagome's and Kagome did the same "Congratulations on your acceptance to School of Destiny"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
