Prompt: blindfold

Rin was floored by the honest confession but she knew that she wasn’t the one who deserved to know it.  Reaching over the table she gave Kagome’s hand a gentle pat.

“Have you told this to my brother?”  She asked having heard the story before this and feeling a little bit of pity for her brother.

“No.”  Kagome hesitated and shook her head.  “I… it’s not the same.”  She stated her voice softening.  “I may not care for him the same way but I can’t hurt him.”

Rin’s eyes widened and she stared at Kagome as though a blindfold had finally been lifted from her eyes.  Perhaps she wasn’t wrong two weeks ago when she had casually suggested to Sesshomaru that he ask his neighbor out.  It seemed that Kagome might also be interested that way.  Rin would normally try to show her friends what they were missing but this time she chose not to.  Rin knew pressuring Kagome wouldn’t help the situation any.

“Go home Kagome.”  Kagome looked up at her startled.

“Why?”  Rin shrugged and took her hand away from Kagome’s.

“Why not?  You deserve to think about this matter yourself for a bit.  Take some time off and think on things.  You’ll figure out what to do and what all your answers are.”

Kagome wasn’t sure and she debated agreeing with Rin about going home.  But in the end, she found herself getting in her car and driving towards her house.  And she realized that more than anything that was where she wanted to be right now.
