Reconciliation with Humanity by Wren Lee

Rotten Relief

Over the next week or so Kagome went back to the future to get Rin modern medication while Kaede watched the girl and used herbs to soothe her suffering. Once the small girl had taken a few rounds of modern antibiotics she had finally gained conciousness again. The first thing that came out of her mouth, even before she opened her eyes was, "Sesshomaru-sama..."

The taiyoukai who had been hovering in and around the village ever since they arrived immediately stood at his charge's side. In a rare gesture of affection her touched the back of her hand in greeting and then draped the mokomoko more securely around her. When he turned to the dark-haired miko the traces of tenderness he had bestowed on Rin had vanished, replaced once more with his stoic facade.

"She will recover," it was almost a question but he had made it a statement. Kagome nodded silently, her wide smile allowing the demon to know for certain that his human charge would recover. The relief of the Western Lord was evident in the fact that he finally seemed comfortable enough to go outside the village to hunt. Rin on the other hand had immediately fallen back asleep at the touch from her guardian.

When she woke up again Kagome leaned over and asked, “How are you feeling sweetie?” Rin mumbled something, her eyes squinting due to the sunlight pouring in through the entrance to Kaede’s hut.

“I’m sorry, what did you say honey?”

“Rin said, Rin feels like a rotten berry.”

Kagome giggled lightly at the comparison, glad that her small friend was well enough to make it.

“Well once you finish feeling rotten, Rin will feel all better!”

The young girl nodded her faith in the miko unshakeable and rivaled only by her faith in the Lord that cared for her.

Leave me a comment if you think this series is interesting, if you want to share ideas with me (cause I really could use them and this is still a work in progress so nothing is set in stone), or if you want to critique (which can only make my writing better!) Anyway I better stop typing and give you a chance to actually comment! Thanks for reading as always!
