Chapter One: Work
“Bring these documents to Mr. Houston and then get Martha on the phone, tell her I’m working late tonight and won’t be making it to dinner.”
“Yes Mr. President.” Anna Beth scurried across the oval office but stopped when she heard the President clear his throat.
“You know Anna Beth; one day you’ll be the reason why I stay late” He said with a wink. Anna Beth shook her head that kind of language certainly wouldn’t get the man reelected. She headed towards the door and down the hall to Mr. Houston’s office.
“Hey there little miss Anna Beth! Let me guess, you have more work for me?” She handed him the stack of files. The man’s face fell when he saw the contents of the folder.
“I thought the President was going to handle this mess?”
“You know how he gets. He rather you do it since you have the rest of the information pertaining to the file” Mr. Houston shook his head.
“Do you think he’ll finish it if I give him the rest of the files?” Anna Beth laughed.
“He might if you throw in that bottle of scotch everyone knows you hide in here.”
“That’s an expensive decanter of scotch; it’s older than my grandfather!”
“Isn’t your daughter’s piano recital tonight? You’re going to miss that to finish some files?” Mr. Houston rubbed his weary face and sighed aloud. He stood up and removed a crystal bottle from one of his draws and handed the documents to Anna Beth.
“Here just take these to him; at this point I’ll do anything to get out of the office.” Mr. Houston grabbed his briefcase and suit jacket.
“Do you mind closing up shop for me Anna Beth?”
“No problem Mr. Houston.” He waved goodbye and exited the office.

“Did you give Mr. Houston those files?”
“Yes Mr. President, he also instructed me to bring you this.” His eyes gleamed with happiness once he laid eyes on the bottle.
“If I would’ve known that giving him some extra work would’ve landed this baby in my hands I would’ve done it sooner. Pour me a glass doll!” Anna Beth walked to the bar, filled the glass with scotch and served it on a silver platter. The President took a sip and squinted his eyes at the taste.
“Now that’s some good stuff, come hand me the bottle!” Anna Beth grabbed the bottle and placed it on his desk. The President stood up and walked directly in front of Anna Beth. He brushed a piece of her behind her ear and leaned in closer.
“I was serious about what I said earlier.” Anna Beth tried to lean away from his touch but was trapped between the desk and the President.
“And what would that be Mr. President?” He smirked and with deft fingers unbuttoned the first two fasteners on her blouse.
“You and I are definitely going to work extra hard tonight.” He pulled on her blouse and laughed when the buttons flew in all directions. Anna Beth struggled to get free. He was entranced by the look of anxiety and fear that overcame her face. He turned his head to finally get a look at the rack he’d been dreaming about.
“What the fuck is—
“Those are my special ladies.” Anna Beth replied while caressing the set of twin daggers nestled in her cleavage. The man slumped to the ground. His body began to convulse violently. Anna Beth stepped over his body and retrieved her shirt and its buttons. She sat in the extravagant leather chair and rested her feet. She had work to do. Guessing the password was easy enough and so was bypassing the series of firewalls on the computer. Once she obtained what she needed she began to make her way out. She stopped when she felt something grab her leg.
“Oh sugar, don’t think I forgot about you” Anna Beth bent down and caressed his cheek. “The poison coursing through your system will stop your breathing in a matter of minutes—his gasps became shallower
“Unless the shock sets in and it kills you first” Anna Beth giggled. A series of bangs were heard on the door. Anna Beth searched the walls for the hidden passage that was part of the president’s emergency escape route. She smiled when she heard a soft click and made her escape through the open door.
The office door was ripped off its hinges. A swarm of secret service guards flooded the office. One of the agents felt for a pulse. There was nothing to be found. He reached forward and closed the President’s eyes.
“Get the Vice-President on the line, call the director of the secret service, and notify the President’s family.”

Kagome leaned her seat back and searched through the selection of in-flight movies. What was the point of flying first class if there was never anything to watch?
“Would you like anything to drink Ma’am?” Inquired the flight attendant.
“You wouldn’t happen to have any Scotch would you?”
“Yes Ma’am” The flight attendant went to hand her a glass but a wave of turbulence caused the liquid to slosh forward and onto Kagome’s dress.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry Ma’am, here let me help you with that” The woman attempted to clean the stain off her dress but Kagome politely shooed her away.
“It’s alright I’m sure the Scotch is worth the stain on my dress”
“I’m sorry again Ma’am—
“Call me Anna Beth” The attendant nodded and handed Kagome a small flash drive.
“Might I suggest staying in your seat for the duration of the flight, it seems we are experiencing some turbulence.” The attendant smiled and left to return to her own seat.
“Right…turbulence” Kagome smirked and sipped her scotch. Her presence had triggered his shields just like she knew it would.
