Finding a Suspect

Miroku inhaled loudly, smelling a peculiar scent that was usually associated with old women. He sniffled around, trying to pinpoint the smell until he came near his best friend, Sesshomaru.

“Whoa, why you smell like that?” he leaned in, whispering lest the teacher to call on him again for disrupting class.  He watched the expression from the taller boy change slightly, a barely noticeable look of annoyance. “Well?” he prompted.

“There was a letter in my locker.” Sesshomaru said, deciding to indulge in Miroku’s unquenchable curiosity. He had the tendency of being irritating when he was nosy.

“Just one letter?” Miroku's eyebrows rose, holding his hand out. Sesshomaru gave it to him. “I was expecting more than one, you have your own fan club, you know.”

“Don’t tell me about it.” he blandly said, refusing to shudder.

“Okay whoever this girl is… I can tell she must be messy or dirty.” Miroku informed the boy in a know-it-all fashion. Well Miroku had a special ability of knowing how a woman was just by looking at her or an object she owns. Sometimes he didn’t believe him, but he had to agree that it could be a dirty woman.

“Inuyasha helped this person and I want to know who.”

“Ahh playing detective huh? Just like when we were kids.” he chuckled. He stopped when he noticed Sesshomaru’s icy glare. Sighing, that boy had a big stick shoved up his ass sometimes. “Anyways, Inuyasha knows a lot of people, he moves around cliques, it could have been anyone or a prank… I wouldn‘t put it past him to try something like this.”

“Miroku, I see that having conversations is more important than the lesson.” the sharp tone of the plump woman at the front of the room cut through, putting the dark-haired male on the spot like always. “Since you seem to be chatty, do you want to tell the lecture to the class?”

“No Hiruma-sensei, I believe you do a more better job giving us students the valuable information needed for the future.” he said with a nervous laugh, hands held up in a placating manner.

The teacher gave him a glare before returning to the lecture.

“Man, you were talking too.” he dramatically grumbled, holding his pencil over the notebook to give an impression of a good, hardworking student. If only he was actually taking notes instead of making squiggly lines all over the page.

“You weren’t being inconspicuous in the first place.”

He shrugged his comment off. “Anyways, we’ll find the dirty woman or you could confront Inuyasha about it. Though, I know he’s going to be tight-lipped about it.”

Another noise interrupted the lecture, a scraping of a chair and a small oomph came from a nerdy looking girl.

“Higurashi-san, are you okay?”

“Y-yes sensei, I reached too far t-to get my pencil.” she managed to stammer out, her face getting undeniably red from all the silent attention. She grabbed her hair, trying to hide behind it before returning to her seat.

Miroku looked back at the coke-bottle glasses girl, a calculating look in his violet-hued eyes. He dismissed her the next second, not finding anything spectacular about her. If he stared a second longer, he could have seen the unnoticeable glance made towards his friend underneath a mop full of knotty hair.
