Temper Tantrums of an Inuyoukai by UnknownRandomness

Giving An Apology

Prompt: Scrape

Word Count: 503

“I think you should move now, Kagome-san.”

Said woman looked at Miroku, alarmed. Now? She mouthed at him desperately, hoping he would change his mind. When he nodded, the miko had to repress the urge to scowl. She had requested his help, and he was good at reading most people so she should follow his advice. But the Western Lord wasn’t most people.

Slowly standing from her seat on a nice patch of tufty grass, Kagome warily approached the demon swiftly skinning a boar. Seeing him work in such a precise manner with those deadly claws made bile rise in her throat and black spots appear in her vision. Perhaps she would come back later, when he clearly wasn’t occupied with something that demonstrated how lethal he is…

No! She would not run away scared! She had stood up to him before and she would again, otherwise she was not the Kagome Higurashi she thought she was!

“Will you approach this one soon or will your indecision last until nightfall?” Sesshoumaru’s scathing words startled her into movement, and her nervous feet closed the last few metres between them.

Keeping her eyes on the now skinless animal, the young woman spoke politely,

“I am very sorry for my previous actions and insults towards you Sesshoumaru-sama; they were undeserved and spoken in the heat of the moment. Please don’t let my actions change your attitude towards Rin.”

Nothing but the sound of raw flesh being handled filled the air as all in the clearing watched the interaction between the blank-faced inuyoukai and the fiery human. Kagome fiddled with the hem of her jumper as she waited for a reply. Gosh, it was nerve-wracking being so close to him without adrenaline to fuel her brave stupidity. She felt like she should be bowing and scraping at his feet whilst begging for forgiveness. Did he have this effect on everyone or just her?

“Do not fear, miko, I would not let your idiocy affect those innocent caught in your imbecilic charade.”

Kagome’s mouth dropped open in utter shock and she raised a hand, preparing to give the cretin a severe tongue-lashing when she caught sight of Miroku frantically shaking his head in the corner of her eye. Slowly, she closed her mouth and dropped her fist before walking away, not willing to say a goodbye for fear that very rude words would come out instead. In the shaking foliage above her head, she could hear Inuyasha trying to smother his laughter, and an annoyed “Sit” left her mouth. But not even the normally satisfying sound of the hanyou’s dumb head hitting the ground could alleviate her rage.

Glare beaming out from her narrowed eyes, Kagome plopped herself down angrily next to the monk, his whispered words of congratulations for doing the right thing only serving to make her even madder. She shouldn’t have to keep quiet! Someone needed to put that grey-haired, over-sized poodle with an ego the size of a continent in his place. But how?
