Their intense friendly competition ended when Sesshomaru won the last hand with a Jack. “You certainly preached a good game, Kagome. I think I’ll call you Priestess from now on.”
“Just get on with it, Snowy.”
“Hn. As you wish.” He swiftly delivered the dare. “Tango with me to a nursery rhyme…you have to sing two out loud.”
Strangling him became a rampant thought. But a deal’s a deal I guess. She thrust her hands to her hips. “Any particular ones come to mind?”
“The teapot one’s an old favorite.” Inuyasha took a sip from his alien mug.
Kagome eeped and grabbed Sesshomaru’s arm. “Where the hell did you come from?”
“The wall if you would believe, though I highly doubt you would.” He finished slurping up the last of his tea. His hand flipped the cup upside down and shook it. “Don’t mind me though. Just keep doing whatever it is you think you’re doing.”
His eyes led her to her attachment with his brother. Kagome released the male and stepped away. “Shouldn’t you be in the basement?”
“Shouldn’t you be getting down?”
She fumbled for a witty comeback when all of the lights in the home went out.
“Well that’s unfortunate,” Inuyasha laughed. “And here I thought I’d get to see a show.” He fished out a candelabrum, lit it, and gave it to Sesshomaru. The twinkle in his eye was mischievous. He spun on his heel and left.
“Hang on,” Kagome called after him. “Don’t you need this thing more than us?”
“It’s exactly where it needs to be,” he chuckled. Inuyasha disappeared into the darkness of the hall.
She edged closer to the burning candlesticks. “Your brother is so creepy.”
“He usually means well,” Sesshomaru nodded. “With him life’s never boring.”
Her eyes were brought to his golden pools. “Is that why you don’t mind his experimenting?”
“I did say usually,” he huffed. “Besides, if I killed him who would fix me? Only Inuyasha can correct Inuyasha. Trust me, I know.”
“No arguing there.” Sesshomaru took her hand into his. Her face instantly tinted light red. “What are you doing?” she nearly stuttered.
“I believe you owe me a dance.”
