Candy Canes

.

“Higurashi, you have a visitor.” He twisted in his key and slammed open the steel door.

Blearily, she got up. Her hand stifled a short yawn. The clock on the wall blinked two. Kagome rolled her eyes and scrunched up her nose. “Who’s the moron that came to see me?

The officer huffed and looked down at his clipboard. “He says he’s your mechanical butler…but only on Wednesdays he’s your son?”

“Hmph.” She ignored his questioning look and let him lead her to the next room.

Sitting inside the visitors’ chamber was a ten year old boy at a table. He kicked his feet back and forth until the officer walked Kagome inside.

“You have thirty minutes,” the officer warned.

“We’ll only need ten.” When the third party finally left Shippo eagerly sat up in his chair. “You know it took me like five jails and two holding cells and a prison to find you.”

Kagome leaned back in her chair and propped her feet up on the table. “What are you doing here, squirt?”

“I’m here to rescue you, duh!”

“Aw! That’s cute, but I don’t need any help.”

“Then what’s the hold up?” he crossed his arms.

“They keep feeding me three meals per day? Besides, rent’s past due and the food in the fridge is bad.”

Shippo whipped out a piece of candy and slid it across the table. “Well that’s just too bad ‘cause you already promised this year we’d celebrate.” He got up from his chair and headed for the door.

“Hey!” She waved the candy cane. “What am I supposed to do with this?”

“You put it in your mouth, suck it, then you stick it in the hole.”

Her face grew a rosy hue. "I can't believe you just said that."

"I was talking about your cell's keyhole. Man, you're such a perv."
