The Mori Christmas Gala by kaoruhana

Sweater Shopping

A/N: Prompt: Holly

Sesshomaru was shopping, as he had promised Kagura, though it was something that was getting him quite a bit of attention.  It wasn’t everyday that men like him shopped for a hundred children’s sweaters in various clothing stores.  Of course, the added help from store wasn’t really making matters simple for him.

“Souta!  We’re not shopping for you!”  He recognized the voice and turned immediately to see if the voice was who he suspected.

Higurashi- the woman who was planning his gala for him- was shopping with a younger man.  He assumed that man was her brother, the two looked alike and they seemed close enough in age.  He remembered Kagura’s words from yesterday and scowled.  Yes, this young woman was interesting, but he wasn’t interested in her that way.  Still, he found himself walking towards her location and only realized he had arrived there when he could distinctly smell her perfume.

     “Excuse me?”

It was the young man who spoke.  He was looking at him with narrowed eyes and Sesshomaru realized that he was perceived as a threat.  Awkwardly, he pointed to the sweaters hanging behind the young man- a white sweater with holly leaves scattered on it.  It wasn’t why he had come here but while looking for an excuse it was the first thing he had found.  And now that he had, he thought that it would be the perfect sweater for Rin.

“Oh, Mori-san!”  Kagome had found him and he nodded awkwardly suddenly feeling like he was a teenager who had been caught snooping.  Except he wasn’t- he had just heard her voice and the sweater was in this corner.  And just why hadn’t he bought that sweater yet?

“You know him?”  Souta asked his eyes wide.

“Yes, this is Mori-san, Souta-kun.”  She rolled her eyes at her brother before addressing the other male. “If you don’t mind me asking, what are you doing here?”  She moved her eyes down to try to find out what was in that cart he was pushing around but instead of merely glancing, she found herself staring.  He had sweaters- at least twenty of them.  And they were all kids sweaters too.

“Sweaters are the gift this year.”  He explained noting her gaze.  “Kagura wants to have them monogrammed with the children’s initials.”

“Oh.”  Kagome shrugged her shoulders but then moved away and took her brother along.  “Well then good luck!  I think that’s a wonderful idea for gifts by the way.”

As she walked away with a smile on her face, Sesshomaru felt happy.  He groaned internally as he snagged the sweater that he had noticed earlier.  He needed to leave the store and not let his assistant’s words get to his head.  Yes, that was what he had to do.
