A/N: Prompt: Sweaters

“Sweaters?”  Sesshomaru asked his personal assistant as she gave him gift ideas for the attendees of the gala.  They had three more weeks to go to the actual event but it was important that he begin to organize things as soon as possible.

“Yes sweaters.  Look, I know it’s not common- my boyfriend also had that same expression on his face- but it’s something that’s quite normal in the west.”

“Explain.”  Kagura smiled and he realized that his personal assistant had once again trapped him in her schemes.  He really was going to have to stop falling for those one day.  But until then, Kagura was the only person he had met who could keep up with him, so he’d get over it.

“Well, there’s this tradition in the west where grandma’s or moms or any elder female in the family really knits sweaters for the family and gives them out as Christmas presents.  It’s not as common now but I had friends back home who really treasured those sweater gifts even if they never wore it.”

“And where will I find grandmothers who can knit four hundred sweaters by the time of the gala?”

“Well, they don’t have to be homemade but I’m sure I could find someone who will monogram initials or something on the sweaters.  A nice personal touch that makes the kids feel appreciated you know?”

Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes in thought.  In the past, his gifts had always been the same- teddy bears for the younger generation and various forms of school supplies for the older ones.  He’d never given personalized gifts before.  It would be hard to deliver them at the gala; hard but doable.  And it would put a smile on the faces of the children- they would know that he was there for them, as much as he possibly could be, and that others were there as well.

“I like the plan.  How will you do it?”

“Well, I was planning on buying the sweaters this weekend- I’m going to make a list on Friday night and decide what kinds each kid might like and then I think I’ll go to my neighbor.  She participates in this crochet club and I know that they love to help out around the holidays with things like this.”

“You can’t pick 400 sweaters on your own- do you need help?”  Kagura smiled.

“Actually yes.  And it’s 450- we always need extras just in case we goof up.  Obviously someone will have to re-knit the monograms but I’ll take care of that.”  She narrowed her eyes this time as Sesshomaru seemed to be thinking of something.  “Do you want to buy some sweaters?”

“I might be persuaded to buy some.”  He amended looking at the list in front of him.  “100 sounds doable.  Do you mind if I take the younger age group?  I find that it’s more easier personally.”

“No, by all means take some!”  Kagura drew a line, precisely at the 100 mark, which surprised him.  Was she that adept at this?  “Thanks!  Now, I have to go and talk to the party planning company.  Apparently the caterers are putting up a fuss and they need someone to step in from our side.”

“Do you want me to take care of it?”  Kagura stopped on her way out and turned around to look at her boss.  He normally didn’t take most of her duties or help her out as much as he was doing today.  Yes, he did occasionally lessen her load but this sudden increase of help was new.

“Why?”  She asked before she could stop herself.  Sesshomaru shrugged and stood.

“The new party planner intrigues me.  She’s doing things differently this year and I like it.  Every time I go in, I get reminded of being home.  Plus, I was going to visit the place later, I might as well take care of the other problem while I’m at it.”  Kagura didn’t say anything for a few moments but as he moved to grab his coat she spoke.

“Okay.  I’ll call her and let her know you’re on your way.”  As she made her way out the door, she couldn’t help the next teasing remark.  “Oh and just so you know- Christmas is a romantic holiday.  You could try asking her out around that date.”

A/N: I have no idea where this story is going.  But I like it so far.  Let's hope that this will have a definite plot soon!
