Flirting for a Christmas Tree Deal

Prompt: Lights

     “What is that?”  Kagome asked as she and her coworker Sango were shopping for Christmas trees. 

     “A gaudy purple tree with bright LED lights, that’s what!”  Sango hissed as they walked further inside the specialty Christmas store. 

     While Japan had embraced some western ideas of Christmas, to get what the girls wanted, they had to venture to one of the specialty stores in Tokyo.  They weren’t prepared for just what that might comprise of.  Nonetheless, they approached the back of the store where a young man- hopefully the manager- was busy organizing the cashier. 

     “Um excuse me?”  Kagome asked when they reached the desk.  The man looked up at Kagome and Sango, his grin widening. 

     “Ah lovely ladies- what can I help you with today?” 

     “Christmas trees.”  Kagome announced chancing a quick look at Sango.  The girl was smitten with him- oh dear.  “I am Higurashi Kagome- the party planner who called you yesterday.” 

     “Oh yes- Higurashi-san!  I remember you- you were looking for a specialty order right?  Come this way- I store the larger trees out back in the storeroom.”  He stepped out from behind the cashier sending a wink to a now blushing Sango on his way out.  “By the way did you want live or fake ones?” 

     “Fake?” Sango asked having come out of her stupor a little. 

     “We’ll see and then decide Ogawa-san!”  Kagome replied before shooting Sango a glare.  “Really?  Come on Sango.  You can ask him out later after we bought the tree.”  She paused as she realized something and tugged her friend down to whisper in her ear. 

     “Flirt your way into a deal.  We’re on a tight budget!”
