Fun in the Snow

A/N: Prompt: Snow Angel, Snowman

Snow angels dotted the walkway to the orphanage that Sesshomaru walked towards.  Next to them was a remnant of a snowman.  He had to smile at that, it seemed that in the week that the new head had slowly started taking over (she wasn’t going to be the full orphanage head until the middle of January due to some paperwork) the kids had truly enjoyed themselves.  But he wasn’t here for that today.  He had talked to Hasegawa-san and she had informed him that she had begun the process for his request in adopting Rin.  It wouldn’t happen overnight but by February, he would be a father.

Today he had come to visit with the children and try to figure out if there was something he could do.  Rin was going to be his but he also wanted the other children in the orphanage who he couldn’t adopt to feel that they could count on him if they needed it.

“Mori-san!”  He stopped as he was about to knock on the door and turned to see Kaede-san walking towards him with two little girls holding her hands tight.  They were young, three and four probably, and judging by the rosy cheeks and snow on their hair and backs, he could easily guess who made the snow angles.

"Kaede-san.”  He greeted when she neared him.  “I just came by to visit, and perhaps talk with you later.”  The elder woman nodded wisely.

Of course.  Hasegawa-san informed me about the issue.  Why don’t we go inside and talk in the warmth?”  She turned to the two little girls.  “And I do wonder if you saw the surprise that Ayu-chan and Yumi-chan made?”

“Yes.”  He replied smiling softly at the little girls and squatting down to be at their eye level.  “The snow angles were really pretty.”  The cute smiles and stammered blushes made him happy to have been the one to put them there.
