Merry Words

Sesshomaru watched as Kagome prepared the Christmas cards she planned on passing out to their neighbors. He wondered why she even bothered giving them a card, they barely know them. Though he did draw one conclusion about them; they were extremely nosy. They wanted to know everybody’s business, and being the private person he was, he instantly disliked them.

“What do you think?” Kagome asked holding up a card, red and green with holly embroidered around the edges of it, in giant words were Merry Christmas in cursive. “This design or this one?” She held up another card of red and gold with a golden Christmas tree on the front.

“Is there a reason why you are giving out Christmas cards to our neighbors?” He found her activity to be a waste of time. If he was her, he wouldn’t make an effort at all.

“They’re our friends, why wouldn’t we give one to them?” She went back to filling the cards out, adding extra touches to it to make it friendlier.

Sesshomaru scoffed. “We won’t receive anything from them in return.” and they’re not my friends, he silently thought to himself. He had to resist the shudder that wanted to course through his body, thinking about the fat idiot next door and his grabby tendencies. That man did not know about personal space at all.

“That’s not the point Sesshomaru.” Kagome sighed, focused on the cards as she signed, in cursive, their names. “It’s about spreading the Christmas cheer.”
