A Simple Invitation

Sesshomaru glared distastefully at the two-story house down the street from theirs. Christmas lights gleamed with different colors covered the straight lines of the building, trees, shrubs and the pathway that led up to the house. It looked way better than their house, which only the door and the windows had lights with a blow-up figure of a snowman in the front yard. Inuyasha and Kikyo surely went out this year, he could say it rivaled the fat idiot’s house.

“Why are we here?” He grumbled out, a slight frown on his lips. He couldn’t see the point of visiting the idiot and his family, they have already seen them enough to last for the next two years.

Kagome sighed, the snow crunching underneath her feet as they walked up the door. “They invited us for dinner.”

“And we had to accept their invitation?”

“Yeah, we weren’t doing anything so why not?” She said with a smile. “Besides Rin’s gonna be there, you big sourpuss.”

“I would be more willing to come if Inuyasha wasn’t there.”

“Oh well, you’re here now so no more complaining about it.” Kagome gave a nonchalant shrug which surely annoyed Sesshomaru. They arrived at the door, pressing the door bell once as they stared at the wreath decorated with silver bells, large poinsettias and ribbons. A second later, Kikyo answered the door, greeting them politely yet warmly into the house. A heavenly scent whiffed past by, causing Kagome sigh with anticipation and Sesshomaru’s stomach to rumble.

Okay maybe some food wasn’t so bad, he just needed to ignore Inuyasha’s childish remarks and need for attention and focus on the meal. Yes, that seemed like a good plan. But knowing his patience and the fact Inuyasha grated his nerves immensely, such a plan wouldn’t last long.
