"You should have seen his face, Kagome! It was like a perfect mixture between surprised rage and pure horror!" Shippo chortled, barely managing to tell his tale from between short bursts of laughter.
Kagome giggled along with him, knowing the expression he referred to all too well, and she couldn't help but say,
"You really must have improved if he didn't sense your presence at all! First I wasn't able to spot you and now Sesshoumaru isn't even aware... It's kind of a terrifying thought really, having such a cunning person as you so adept at hiding."
The kitsune smiled, his amazingly vibrant eyes flashing with limitless mischief.
"Well, the great Sesshoumaru was clearly too disgusted by our marvelous handiwork to look for the culprit!" Abruptly his voice deepened and his eyelids lowered before he grabbed the miko's hands in his own, eagerly asking,
"So what next, great benefactor? What troubles are going to fall on our beloved's silver head?"
The young woman couldn't help but shiver, as from the corner of her eye, she glimpsed the outline of his disguised- but ever present- five tails writhing in excitement. Staring into her dear friend's turquoise lakes, Kagome felt slightly uneasy. What had she done, asking one of the most tricksome people from the most renowned species of tricksters for help with a few small pranks? Shippo was both her and her mate's dear friend, but he really didn't know how to hold back.
Shaking off the unwanted feeling, Kagome grinned widely as she pulled Shippo closer for a one-armed hug.
"Surely you are my benefactor since I came to you for help?"
"Oh yeah; I forgot that part."
The two chatted as they walked arm-in-arm through the park, heading towards the brand new complex not fifteen minutes from the miko's apartment. If they were going to ensure that Sesshoumaru irrevocably understood that Kagome would not be cowed, especially not when it was the Christmas season, some essential supplies would be necessary.
They were going shopping!
