The Death of Friendship

A/N: Please could you listen to the piece at the same time as reading. I feel that it makes it more meaningful. And could you perhaps leave a review?

Prompt: Two Rocks and a Cup of Water- Massive Attack (Danny the Dog/Unleashed OST)

"You are nothing! You are worthless! You will never be as good as Kikyo is!"

Kagome whimpered as the hanyou who she had considered to be her best friend screamed abuse at her. She had once again failed to aid her companions in battle, rather she had caused even more difficulties for them; and Inuyasha had finally lost it.

"I hate you."

The miko's throat constricted and she flinched, his words as visceral as if he had slapped her across the face. Tears escaped from her clenched lids and she laughed, a hollow sound without mirth. He had finally said it; what she had known all along. He hated her.

He hated her.

The laughter quickly petered out, turning into huge gasping breaths that made her head swim and the world spin as though their small blue marble had been kicked across the floor of the universe.

Oh... She was hyperventilating. Idly, the woman wondered if anyone had a bag that she could breathe into.

Her heightened senses made out the sound of the half-demon walking away. He was walking away from her- what had happened to the friend who would encompass her in his rough yet tender embrace?

"You're pathetic."

Kagome blinked incredulously as his venemous words pierced through her already fragile heart. Pathetic? She knew she was pathetic. Every day in this broken world served as a reminder of how useless she was, how everything she did resulted in the suffering of others.

Black clouds started to creep along the edges of her vision, bringing a cloying relief from her painful existence.

He hated her.

She slipped into blissful unconsciousness with a whimper.
