See Me by Michelle
A Barking Dog Never Bites
A/N; Part of the story is Kagome's horrible relationships. Horrible as in abusive. If in your guys opinion it goes past the boundary of T. Let me know. I'm new to the whole 'what's considered what' and will gladly readjust anything.
Kag's POV
I ran a little faster down the hallway, which is hard to do with a broken leg. I made it to the classroom just in time to enter without it being pointed out. The professor still wasn't there yet, the teachers aid was though.
"Welcome to Youkai History!" He was a dog hanyou with cute dog ears on his head. "This where we look at youkai myths and legends, and find out the truth from the proffesors because we are that old. What's your year?"
"Freshman." His eyes lit up for some reason, and it scared me.
"Really! You're the only freshman in this class." He pulled out a packet and pulled a chair up to the desk I decided to sit at. He flipped through a couple of pages and explained what each was for. Another inuyoukai, but more powerful, stood behind him.
"Inuyasha, if you get this excited over one student, you can teach the whole class."
The dog eared guy finally turned away so I could look at the packet. That didn't stop me from listening though.
"So you finally decide to show up."
"I'm on time."
"That's it. You don't show up early anymore."
"Inuyasha, we'll talk of this later."
I'm glad they stopped fighting. It's not that it was annoying, I just still could not control my powers yet.
"Anyways." The guy with demon markings put a bag on the front table. "Today is now the official 'Go-Over-The-Rules-' Day. Since you have all slept since last year, let's go over all over them." The hanyou plopped down in the seat again.
"I'll just sit right here." He turned to me. "Okay with you?" I just nodded and hoped my powers never flared in this class.
The guy at the table continued to say his name was Sesshomaru and went through the long list of rules for the class, The class ended with him assigning the first reading. Some odd legend of a great dog general.
Afterwards I was able to slip away quietly from the room. It was the only class I could take this year so I would head straight home.
Sess's POV
The students this year seemed bearable. That girl slipped out, probably hoping no one would notice. My beast did. For some odd reason I listened to it.
"Inuyasha, I'll be leaving early today. Rin has asked to see you sometime this week." With that I followed the human out. She was quite odd, not even heading to another class, she left the building. She kept looking over her shoulder but never noticed me, or perhaps she was not looking for me.
"Sesshomaru!" A hand grabbed my shoulder and turned me towards them, effectivly taking my eyes off the human.
"What do want, Inuyasha?"
"What's got you riled up so bad?" I didn't really pay attention since I was still trying to find the human and when I saw her, I freaked. She was standing in the middle of the road with a semi headed her way. I acted, more correctly, my beast did. I grabbed her pulled her to the other sidewalk.
"Human! What were you thinking? It's not safe to stand in the middle of the road! What if you got hit? What would your parents think?" I probably would have continued ranting if the smell of salt water didn't assault my nose. "Human,-"
"Leave me alone!" She shoved passed me and continued to walk towards an apartment building. I would have continued to follow her if Inuyasha wasn't directly behind me.
Kag's POV
He had to mention parents, didn't he? I ran closer to the apartment building and my hell. I had hoped that upon moving in with my father would ease the tention between my parents, but I was wrong. My mother just stopped talking to me, and my father is drunk all the time. He never pays rent, thank kami the landlord is lenient on us. Today I decided I was going to leave. I didn't know where I would go I just couldn't stay.
I walk in the room and luckily my father wasn't there. I grabbed the biggest dufflebag I had and stuffed as many items as I could in there. The first second I stepped out I was determined, the second doubting. I had to push myself past the feeling to get out. Once outside I wasn't going back.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It took me hours to find an apartment closer to the school. After that I had to find a job somewhere close as well. Lucky me a little candy shop was hiring.
It was called 'Kit's Kandies' which was kind of cute because the owner was a young looking kitsune by the name Shippo. To tell the truth it was quite funny.
Well, until the day before I had to go back for another class...
I was headed out the door when I noticed a loud barking noise outside my door. At first I was just going to wait it out, but the dog insisted upon staying by my door. I called Shippo.
"Hello, Kit's Kandies! How may I help you today?" Shippo answered the phone. Yes! Now I don't have to ask for him.
"Yeah, Shippo? I might be late today. A dog is outside my door and refuses to leave."
"Are you certain it's a dog?" The began to bark loud enough to go through the phone. "I'll get my friends down there, their really good with dogs."
"Alright. I'll be here waiting." With that he hung up and I sat in the kitchen to wait. Happy to say I didn't wait long.
The barking stopped completly and someone knocked on my door. At first I hesitated, but then the person knocking spoke. "It's safe. You can come out."
I stepped out and almost imediately someone grabbed my hand and pulled me close to the dog. Out of reflex of being pulled I had shut my eyes, only to open them again at the feeling of a dog licking my hand. However, when I opened my eyes I noticed it was Sesshomaru who was holding my hand to the dog and Inuyasha keeping the dog from barking.
"A barking never bites, human. It just wants your attention." With that he let go of my hand. Inuyasha searched for a dog collar, but couldn't find one.
"He can stay with me." I was shocked it had come out. But it made perfect sense in my head. I would keep him, he could be a guard dog.
Inuyasha looked up at me, "You sure? I could take him."
"I'm sure. Thank you, by the way." And with that we continued upon our day as though nothing happened.
A/N; Oh my, I can bearly keep up. Promise: Next chapter, more coherent!
