Kagome sat on a hill, knees tucked under her chin. Tears running down her face. Her father still hadn't forgiven her. It was her punishment, she had gone against her family and slept with him.

There was a time when men were kind

When their voices were soft

And their words inviting

The soft rumble of thunder shook through the sky, Kagome looked towards the darkening clouds and closed her eyes. She could still see his golden eyes; looking at her lovingly.

There was a time when love was blind

And the world was a song

And the song was exciting

There was a time

Then it all went wrong

She could still hear the words he spoke in her ear. Telling her how much he loved her, how much he wanted to be with her. Then Hojo walked into her room and saw them.

I dreamed a dream in times gone by

When hope was high

And life worth living

I dreamed that love would never die

I dreamed that God would be forgiving

Then I was young and unafraid

And dreams were made and used and wasted

There was no ransom to be paid

The dream of her living with him with his home, little children running about them. She would smile at him and he would smile back. He had promised her the world, she would want for nothing. He said he would always protect her. And she believed him.

No song unsung

No wine untasted

But the tigers come at night

With their voices soft as thunder

He had kept some of his promise, they went out to fancy restaurants, plays and other romantic places. Then one night she gave herself to him. His deep rumbling voice kept her calm.

As they tear your hope apart

And they turn your dream to shame

He slept a summer by my side

He filled my days with endless wonder

He tore away her innocence. She hadn't minded at all, she thought he loved her and would stay by her side. Forever. Everyday during summer break he filled her night with bliss pleasure. She was living her dream.

He took my childhood in his stride

But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'll come to me

That we'll live the years together

Once Hojo had found out, her world came crashing down. As her father yelled and hit her, she believed Inuyasha would stay by her side, and would make her dream a reality.

But there are dreams that cannot be

And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be

So different from this hell I'm living

He never came back. Kikyo had more to offer him. Her family had turned their back on her. Her father had told her once she was out of school, he was going to marry her to Hojo to merge his business with Hojo's family, and to rid her presence from the family. He had told her to be thankful someone was willing to marry the Higurashi Whore.

So different now from what it seemed

Now life has killed

The dream I dreamed

Kagome walked home in the rain. In three weeks she was to marry Hojo. Kagome had a choice, run or stay. However she knew if she ran, Hojo would find her and take her back to her father where she would get hit for further disobeying him. Then a third option presented its self. Know-one could force her to do anything if she was dead.

The sight of a pond made her choice for her. If she couldn't live her dream, she wouldn't live at all. She nodded giving herself courage to do this. No more beatings, no more disproving looks from her ex-friends and family, no more Kikyo waving her dream in her face. Kagome closed her eyes and fell forwards, into the waiting arms of death.
