Chapter 18: Her Savior

It happened in an instant.

To her it felt like slow-motion, she closed her eyes, the instincts to jump away nonexistent. She waited for the ladder to smash against her head, ticking down the seconds. However, nothing happened, and she warily opened her eyes. Before her stood a man, grasping the ladder from toppling on her while another woman had her hands covering her eyes. She had to admit that the man was handsome, extremely so.

“What the hell?!”

Kagome snapped out of it, dragging her eyes away form his as her company’s CMO yelled at the two men.

“Did you deliberately tried to put Higurashi-san in danger by not following safety procedures? And you, pay attention to what’s in your path, Higurashi-san could have been injured!”

“Enough Azuma-san, it has been avoided.” Kagome said, “Let’s head to the meeting room.” The bad-tempered, elderly man grumbled before the group walked away, bypassing fallen papers and such. Kagome stood behind, a tiny blush on her face as she looked at the man who saved, taken by his looks. “Thank you for preventing the ladder from falling on me.”

He bowed, his face tinted with a bit of red which she found to be cute. “I apologize Higurashi-san, this won‘t happen again.”

“May I know the name of my savior?” Usually she was never this straightforward, but something about this man made her want to get to know him, maybe because he saved her or maybe by his looks.

“Sesshomaru Taisho, ma’am.”
