A/N: Here's the next installment, sorry for the delay, RL had been very busy for me. Might be some errors in this but, anyways enjoy the chapter. :)

Where Courage Triumphs

It was a showdown.  

A ticking bomb waiting to explode, and she was said bomb. The villagers were the explosion, ready to demolish the place with their frenzied appetite, or so she assumed, still thinking that they were zombies.

She hadn’t expected to encounter something like this. Was the apocalypse commencing now?

Now I sound like grandpa, they’re probably possessed. Kagome took a deep breath through her nose, a sweat dinting her forehead.

The longer she stood there, the more frightened she became as the hollowed eyes of the men and women before her stared her down, waiting. Their stances limp, but ready, while the weapons were lowered after she stopped moving.

I need to save that girl from those zombies!

Tightening her fists, she knew at that moment she was about to do something very foolish and she could already picture Inuyasha reaction were he here.

Ugh this isn’t the time to think of Inuyasha! He’s not here to protect me anymore!   

“Help me!” Came a distanced call, a cry marred with fear. To be honest with herself, she was surprised the little girl was still alive. Here she was, having a stare-down with these villagers and the girl was fending herself from the other group, still running.

She was pathetic.

But they can run pretty fast... She tried to reason with herself, trying to explain why she haven’t made an effort to move yet. Yes, she was scared, but she had to do something.

If she doesn’t, she would be stuck standing here for who knows how long.

With a war cry, she ran down the steps and headed towards the sound of the girl’s continuous pleas. Behind her, collective growls resounded into the empty night as they pursued her.

I wish Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku were here!
