Chapter 12: One for Many

It was a piercing silence when the crying stop.

She couldn’t breath, couldn’t believe what just happened.

A tiny whimper was enough to give their location away, but the drastic measure the mother took shell-shocked her down to her soul.

The woman smothered her baby to death.

She knew the baby was smothered as the noise diminished almost instantly and sounded muffled, as if a cloth was placed over its face.

An innocent child born into this cruel world, only months of living --she presumed, and so easy its life was taken away. Others in the hut were quiet, resignation clear in the air.

Barbaric! Her mind screamed, appalled at their behavior.

To make matters worse, the woman was now sniffling, trying to suppress her whimpers. It completely made her action redundant, as there was a possibility that they would be found because of the woman. If that was the case, she should have let the child live if she was going to cry for killing it, they were going to die either way.

Crazy, stupid woman, Kagome thought, anger filling her mind as the woman continued to try to muffle her whimpers.

“My baby, my baby.” Kami, now she was whispering, already regretting her actions.

She really wants everyone to die!

She continued to mumble, and the noise outside stopped.

A yelp escaped the woman’s lips, she wasn’t sure what caused that noise to escape her mouth, but now the attention from outside was focused on the hut as they crept closer to it, the sound of metal being dragged against the ground resounding loudly.

Then unexpectedly, the woman ran out the hut right before the mat was shifted to the side, and crashed into a body, emitting a frightened scream before it was silenced.

These people are insane!
